1 down, 45 to go. Sounded like a good game, shame we lost a goal just before half time but a good test for our new look team.
Shame that we (ipswich are my 2nd team, used to live in lowestoft) couldnt hang on for the draw, no disgrace getting beat at reading, still think mick mac will be there or thereabouts at the end
"still think mick mac will be there or thereabouts at the end" I presume you mean relegation ??? Oooppsa daisy.
After the way McCarthy got Ipswich moving last season I had you down as promotion contenders this time round. After todays performance I'm even more convinced. We rode our luck today and got the piece of luck to score the winning goal off a deflection. Two decent teams who played out an exciting game, which could have gone either way. Good luck for the rest of the season.
Thanks for that, Good Luck to you Royals too! (and apologies for the Budgie scum that have appeared on this thread)
Decent performance and certainly no disgrace loosing away to one of the favourites for promotion. Slight concern though is the lack of creativity, as Mick Mills said I think we're going to rely on our fullbacks (Hewitt and Cresswell) for alot of our attacking play. Similarly I think we could do with a goal poacher. I think the problem is we don't really have any true wingers and centrally all of our midfielders except Wordsworth are similar in that they all in most teams would probably play the slightly more defensive role out of a central midfield 2, which mean we lack that creativity and purpose to our play. Similarly I think our strikers are all generally second strikers in that they all probably prefer to play off the main striker all in different ways though. It was just slightly concernting that although our bench looked decent we didn't really have an option to bring on and add that bit of creativity to our midfield which meant the 2 sub strikers (Nouble and Taylor) didn't really change the game. Saying all that I think as Mick says 'We'll be fine'
Not to gutted by todays results, more positives than negatives for me. Skuse had a great game by all accounts, and we could have quiteeasily got back in front in the second half, only real worry is the left back situation, with cressy out we are quite weak there.
