<whistle> I always pronounced the second syllable of Raikkonen emphatically and thought I could get away with it given some of the above. Evidently I was mistaken. And I would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for you meddling kids! :smiley-finger007:

<laugh>Ha! I liked your post, Tom. It made me literally laugh out loud. It's funny.

And on that note, I'd like to know why my smilies tend not to appear until 2nd, 3rd or worse edits; and sometimes they flatly refuse altogether!

    :(

Banning Manny is a bit unnecessary isnt it, we have all had our moments, Ive had exchanges with him - her over the years and we still manage to exist with mutual peace, we should learn to co-exist, its the only way forward.

Well if you read everything said in the Hungary race thread then it was apparent he was only back to incite others which we don't want on this forum.everybody is welcome to critise other drivers as long as the argument is done like adults and not sulking off or being offensive. Manny is welcome back if he wants but only when he understands this. And I really hope we do have the old Manny back as he was one of the popular posters here and an internet friend of all of us.

Well, Ive read lots of things said on lots of threads including some of the general threads "best avoided if you are of a sensitive nature" and I still believe censure is not the best way forward.

when all that was happening was a plethora of personal insults and continuos swearing, a cool down period is required. Otherwise, what incentive is there for people to act in a reasonable manner, other than their own dignity?

Maybe, but censure is not the ideal control medium, dialogue is the way forward, however fragmented and offensive it maybe, after all its only words, playing at being God or imposing your beliefs is worse. Thats how wars start.

I've had vehement arguments with Manny on several occasions even pre 'not606' but it does not prevent me from defending him, why should he be prevented from expressing his views, even though I may consider him a total prat and his views idiotic, on occasions.

I've probably had more 'vehement arguments' with Manny than any other person on this board and I find it hard to believe he would consider to stoop low enough to use such puerile insults as 'ur momma' as everyone knows once you go there you've lost.

I believe he should be allowed to express his views, I also believe he should be duly punished for sharing nothing but crass insults.

It's worth pointing out that I agree with your viewpoint on free speech but currently the only belief we have "imposed" is don't personally insult the people who are criticising you, don't resort to methods such as homophobia (see below), and, by extension of both of the above, don't make this forum a place where other people might be frightened to share their own beliefs. Dialogue only works if both parties are willing to participate, clue's in the name. I don't believe that Manny was. As I said earlier, this was something that built up from Friday night all the way through to Sunday when it peaked.
