tbh I don`t think you`ll get what you`re looking for unless you spend more than £1,000. If you see a genuine USA Gibson LP standard for less than £1,000 you`d better get there within 5 mins. The only reasons it will be as cheap as that is it`s nicked, wrecked or a chinese copy. You will need to be very careful of these as some of them are very, very good. This link might help you spot a fake. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrDFtriqU4Q I`ve got a 1967 SG Standard (light weight, very versatile) A new LP Studio (weight relief, burstbucker p/ups) 1981 LP Custom with the gold bits & humbuckers (that buggers a back breaker) Got a couple of USA strats but that`s not what we`re interested in. (only mentioned it to brag) You should be able to get a Studio for about £500, a Les Paul Classic for about £1,000. (might be worth looking at one of those). But expect to pay a minimum of £1200+ for a genuine LP Standard in decent nick. I`ll have a look around & pm you if there`s anything about.
Hahaha I'm useless with stuff like that! Have just deleted loads from it. Do I remember you saying you're teesside's dad? I'm playing in Redcar tonight in the deadest of dead clubs! There are about 9 in so far (Ennis square club)!! Should be fun! And I have a 50th anniversary deluxe strat (for no other reason than to brag about it!!!!)
Brag away mate (had one, didn`t like, got rid) Not Teessides dad mate, PDC effects fatha for me sins.
Ah I knew you were someone's dad on here!! Cheers. Have messaged the seller of that les paul. Will we what happens
Pawn stars got one in the other week, and it used to belong to Les paul !, the seller wanted too much above their value, they went to about $90,000 but he would not sell. He was the greatest guitarist of all time to me.
On the subject of guitars, does anyone on here have any experience with changing pickups? I've had my Epi Les Paul for a couple of years now and it's still got the stock pickups, and I was wondering whether I should change them, and what for. I mainly play stuff like Pink Floyd, Queen, Dire Straits and prefer a bit of crunch rather than full-on overdrive. I also have zero experience with electronics/soldering, so would it be worth changing these over? Also Marcus, I've got an ancient knockoff Strat made by a company called Westwood that constantly goes out of tune and has rusty frets - I'd be willing to part with it for a low price of £499?
Ah mate if I didn't have an original 2004 50th anniversary start... I still wouldn't gave bought it off you!!
To change a pick-up you only need to remove a couple of screws and then desolder the 2 wires that connect it to the control pot (after slacking off or removing the strings. Wouldn't have a clue what to replace them with mind, that's down to personal choice and probably better to get it done by a guitar shop/luthier if you are not conmfortable with a soldering iron.
