You dont get it...wether we deserved it or not it all came down to penalties.Penalties are 50/50.Now when c rons penalty was saved and up until terrys kick they were lucky. However, because of the rain terry slipped (remember rain is an outside occurrence nothing to do with the play)and he missed.VDS was going the other way hence the goal could have gone in had he not slipped. Now say it did go in you would say they were lucky..fact is wether we were better or not before pens it didnt help did it?We ended up with penalties in the end and happened to win .. However my pont at first was Fergies record in Europe.Only winning 2 in 25 years is quite poor tbh.The ones he has won we have been quite fortunate.Ok you may say weve got to 4 finals under Fergie(2 of them where weve been played around like a joke)but lets be honest even 4 finals in 25 years is still quite bad.
Penalties are 50/50 ………………….. I stopped reading right there. Gets my vote for the most stupid comment of the day. You really are a prize plum.
Yes penalties can be a bit of a lottery and involve luck (but falling over whilst taking a penalty is not about luck), but I can't think of a single side (possibly barring Barca in 2006) that won the CL over the past decade or so that didn't have luck, if not in the final then in another match: 2004 Porto - Scholes goal disallowed 2005 Liverpool - Garcia ghost goal 2007 Milan - Deflected goal of Inzaghi's hand 2009 Barca - Should've been knocked out by Chelsea but for the dodgy ref 2010 Inter - Played Barca the day after they were forced to take a coach from Spain to Italy 2011 Barca - Were but a Bendtner cock up away from going out to Arsenal Almost all teams get a bit of luck if they are to win the CL. And I don't think Utd in 2008 got any more luck than any of the clubs above (except Barca this year of course). Well we weren't allowed in Europe for the first five years, and he won the Cup Winners Cup in 1991, so 3 European trophies and five finals in 20 years isn't quite as bad as you try to make out. I agree we should have won more (2002, 2004 and 2010 in particular need to go down as missed opportunities). But over the past two decades only Barcelona, Real Madrid and Milan have better records than us in Europe, and Madrid have only reached three finals, so I can't agree that SAF's record is bad, particularly given how much more money Madrid and Barca have had to play with over the same period (not to mention the attraction of Spain over Manchester to the big names).
Ok you may say weve got to 4 finals under Fergie(2 of them where weve been played around like a joke)but lets be honest even 4 finals in 25 years is still quite bad. ……………………………….. Only two teams have been in more finlas during this time frame. AC Milan and Barcelona. Only Real Madrid, AC Milan and Barcelona have won more than two, in the same time frame. Yes United should have done better, he has said so himself. But the truth is not many teams have done better than United.
