well there aint much between them , Bale has had ONE impressive season . That valuation is the joke of the decade . The only reason he has such a tag is A. you really dont want to sell him . B . Real have more money than sense.
I think you'll find it was Walcott is better than Lennon, despite you spuds trying to argue the opposite
Seriously? There aint much between bale and walcott? The fee is a joke agreed but seriously... As for 1 good season.... he was out standing at the back end of the 09/10 season. He has been great since...that makes 3 and a half very impressive seasons mate.
We didn't "choose" Walcott over Bale. Bale was a left back when we were interested in him and Arsene decided against it because we had Clichy. He has admitted since he made a mistake.
I think Walcott offers the team more than Bale does, in as much that he scores goals, links up play and provides bucket loads of assists. Bale is more of an individual flair player and can turn a game in an instant, but so can Walcott. I think the reason Bale is getting so much attention is because of the dramatic way that he hauled the spuds arses out of trouble last season, scoring some spectacular late goals to hide a multitude of sins. Compared with the shower of ****e that is the rest of Spurs, he stands out as an exceptional player and rightly grabs all of the attention. It's good to see though that two old mates and Arsenal fans, Walcott and Bale are right up there at the top of their games and being lauded as two of the best premier league players there are, although one looks like he might be playing in La Liga soon. To be honest Bale deserves to play alongside good players in a big team, because his talent will only bring him limited success at the spuds.
Some Arsenal fans were arguing that they'd rather have Walcott than Bale ... you'd not do that unless you thought you had the better player... non argue that now but they did at the time....god you are pedantic ... but karma will ensure your comeuppance once your little one can talk
Well for much of their respective careers, Walcott has been the superior player, so it's not difficult to see why anyone may have said that.
Well if we do a quick comparison of the stats: Bale - Total - 203 apps, 56 goals 2012/13 - 26 goals, 10 assists 2011/12 - 12 goals, 14 assists 2010/11 - 11 goals, 3 assists Walcott - Total - 263 apps, 63 goals 2012/13 - 21 goals, 14 assists 2011/12 - 9 goals, 10 assists 2010/11 - 13 goals, 12 assists This is removing there international goals and assists to see how they are for there clubs. As you can see they have had fairly similar seasons to each other over the last 3 years. Overall Walcott has more goals and assists as prior to this 3 year period he was more involved even as a bit part player as a younger man. Both have done it against some top opposition (Walcott has turned Barca games on there head, Bale Inter games). Both are similar in there style of play and so far have had fairly similar careers. The key difference is that Walcott has had more opportunites to play at the top level due to being at Arsenal rather than Spurs. Up until this season i would have hands down chosen Walcott over Bale. Statistically there really isn't much between these two players. Bale is vastly over-rated and Walcott is under-rated. Both are of a similar level, the difference for me being Bales physical strength has allowed him to pop up and get some important goals last season. Both are very good players.
Very true...that's the lesson he learned watching his heroes from his beloved Arsenal such as Clichy; Toure; Fabregas; Song; Nasri; RVP who all went on to bigger and better things after leaving because their talent only bought them limited success of coming 4th at the emerates. from the unbeatables and CL finalists to only being 1 place above us (think you called us a shower of ****e) by 1 or 2 points in 8 years...must be a bit galling. You must be glad he's going as we will sink back into mid table obscurity as we did when we lost Carrick; Keane; Berbatov; VDV...
At least if your going to make big claims about how our players have gone on to bigger andbetter things make sure your posting only players whos careers have improved Kolo Toure won more at Arsenal than atCity including the Invincibles League Title. His best years where at Arsenal. Clichy has also still not won as much at City as he did whilst at Arsenal. Both Fabregas and Song have won stuff at Barca, but Song is hated by the fans and very much a back-up part of the squad. And Fabregas despite playing very regularly and winning trophies is possibly on the move again already- maybe back to Arsenal. Fabregas also either won or played in the final/was runner-up of every competition in england. He is yet to play in a CL final for Barca. Although i won't deny he made a step up in his career Nasri has gone on to win things but has been far from happy in his time at City and may now struggle to get game time with there new signings. RVP has gone on to immedietly win the title and become the main man at Utd - he is the only player who's move has so far gone exactly to plan. So although maybe 3 of those 6 players have gone on to bigger and better things, you probably should of thought about the list a little more before posting it
Also if you look at the players who have left Arsenal prior to the last 2-3 seasons you will see they all go on to never do as well as they did at Arsenal.
between nov 2007 and sept 2008 Bale was out injured...was in plaster for over 4 months. From sept 2008 - jan 2010 he really struggled to come back from his injury... therefore any comparison of those 2 and a half years is plainly silly... there has been no comparison since Stats mean sod all to be honest...Bale was a left back for a sizeable amount of games until late 2010...therefore wouldn't be in a position to score many...we have had **** strikers therefore the assists aren't a reflection on bale more of a reflection of our poor strikers...you on the other hands have had better strikers...your problems have been more defensive. Personally I always liked walcott and believed the criticism of him to be unfair...I would love to have had him and lennon operating together but do not think he is in the same class as bale.
I agree with you rememebrcolinlee that spurs have done very well to claw there way up to just behind us. They took advantage of a period of time when Arsenal where paying for a new stadium and had to rebuild relying on youth and Spurs spent a lot of money to make sure they caught up. However that time is now over and i have no doubts Tottenham will drop away again. You'll be close again this season but the year after that your done i recon
