I'd like to know an the opinion of an old poster on this matter who sadly left for an inferior board. If only we could pull mussy from is hell........
It seems Evans fee was actually £600k, possibly rising to £800k based on appearances, no mention of any sell on clause. I'm a little surprised that Bruce has said we're definitely looking for two midfielders, possibly three, I didn't expect us to go for more than two.
I can't believe people using the word 'talented' to describe him. There isn't a player in our squad who is less talented. Even Bruce who can't pass is a lot better in the tackle than Evans. He's a hard worker, determined and super fit, but he just isn't talented at all. The reason he got 10 bookings despite not even being a 1st choice player is because his tackling is appalling. His passing is no better.
very harsh like most young players consistancy has been his problem, had we not won promotion he would still be a regular
Continuing to cement your position as the worst judge of a player on here I see. He was brilliant in some games, poor in others, as DJ said, he was simply too inconsistent. Alex Bruce is the least talented player in our current squad, one of the bravest, but still the least talented.
What you mean the game against Leeds that dj said was the best performance of the season by any player. Yet he didnt get in Goochie's top 3 of the final vote for that game or even dj's own vote. He's gone. Brucey didnt rate him. Dropped him at every opportunity.
define brilliant, ive watched city for 45 years and IMO some have had good games and MOM performances but never achieved brilliance, a step towards realism maybe required
It was the Barnsley game I remembered him winning MotM, he was good against Leeds, but so was everyone else. He played 79 times for us in two years, he scored 3 goals(one of which won us a game) and he made 32 league appearances last season, a season which saw us promoted to the Premier League. He deserves some credit for the contribution he made, even Alex Bruce deserves that and he really is ****(even he had a couple of brilliant games).
Made a cracking last ditch block against Barnsley as i remember. I gave him some credit, played his part, as did even Mclean. He's just the perfect example of a mediocre player.
I don't know where this consistency thing has come from. It's not like he has amazing games followed by ****e ones. He's just a really average player. He was making the team when we were an upper mid-table Championship side. When we became a promotion-chasing side he wasn't good enough to get in the side any more, so I don't know where your last sentence comes from. Read my post again, I'm arguing he's not talented and you call that a poor judge. Surely you're not going to argue that he is a talented player? His pass completion must have been about as low as you can get for a pro footballer. I agree that Bruce isn't talented on the ball, but neither is Evans that's my point. Bruce can however tackle properly without giving away stupid free kicks that lead to goals such as the one Evans gave away at Brighton. You know that means nothing, McShane won it several times.
You said he was the least talented player in our squad, he isn't. I get that you don't rate him, but he's not nearly as bad as your making out and as a player who played in the majority of our games in a season that saw us promoted got the top flight, he's earned better than to be subject to the ****e you're posting. And you're well aware that I'm not McShane's biggest fan, but he deserved a few MotM awards last season.
It wasn't going to be a big moan about Evans. I'd warmly applaud him if he came back to the KC with Blackburn some time. I'm just surprised so many people think he's so good and even describe him as 'talented' and I'm replying to that.
