just thought i'd do a bare bones match chat thread, and maybe a mod (preferably SJW) can edit it up to a respectable level for the match tomorrow.

Right, so we play Napoli in the tournament to end all tournaments, the fearsome Emirates Cup, and we're playing against Higuain, which will be fun.

    Wenger's said;

on the squad for the Emirates Cup...
    on Monreal and Vermaelen...

Napoli president said Higuain will be on the bench tomorrow.

Poor Vermaelen and his dodgey injuries...

I'm pleased we will get our first glimpses of Sanogo in an Arsenal shirt. We may get a better idea of whether we are likely to see him playing with the first team this season or whether he will end up out on loan.

I'm not going to get bothered about Higuain going to Napoli considering his price and that there is still a month for us to make signings.

So he's probably going to come on. Meanwhile, we get to see Sanogo. Why am i very underwhelmed?

I'm also pleased Wilshere and Szcs are back now and that Monreal should be ready by the start of the season or at least very early in the season.

I wonder if Miquel will get anymore game time whilst Wenger decides if he is good enough to be our cover at CB this season.

Miquel isn't good enough. If we had a more competent manager i would expect us to sign either a CB, or we move Sagna inside and sign a RB

I think a striker and another midfield option are more important than a defender, especially as the CB would be a back-up option.

We have 2 fit CB's, and the season starts in 2 weeks. We need defensive cover.

Giroud will get some game time during the Emirates cup as well i'm sure as even if we sign Suarez he isn't available for the first few games due to his ban. If Sanogo does well he might manage to get a few games on the bench at the start of the season.

Sagna and Miquel can both cover at CB if needed during the first month or so of the season while Verm is out. So it isn't a dire need, but i agree another defender would be good :)

Never did a proper match thread for a pre-season game, and I am not going to start now. It's pointless, so this thread would do. <ok>

    Today

    Szczesney
    Jenkinson Per Kos Gibbs
    Arteta Ramsey
    Theo Rosicky Ox
    Giroud

    Tomorrow

    Fabianski
    Bellerin Sagna Kos Miquel
    Arteta Wilshere
    Ryo Cazorla Gnabry
    Podolski

It is scary how thin our squad is.

Kicking off at the Emirates, not in a positive way. Galatasaray fans already causing trouble.

Like mixing thermite and black powder, Napoli and Galatasaray. I can't understand it.
