I liked the look of him, but Bruce obviously didn't, he couldn't get a game in the Championship, never mind the Premier League.
SB no doubt likes Palacios and possibly Cattermole however the way he said that some clubs haven't started yet (I.e. Man Utd) I think he has his eye on Nick Powell - and that would be a good loan signing.....
Palacios or Huddlestone would be our preferred option, but both look increasingly unlikely(in fact one never did look likely), maybe it will be the bloke from Marseille, or the bloke that's on trial from Evian, or the bloke from Man City, I'm sure there are several options we're looking at. I think the 19 year old lad from Al Ahly is far more likely to come than Fathi, who I don't think Bruce is remotely interested in.
i think we'll be looking abroad, unless we're waiting until the last few days then its a scramble for who's left and inflated fees
Powell would no doubt be a great addition, but he's an attacking player, he wouldn't affect the signing of a defensive midfielder, which is our main priority. I don't think we're interested in Cattermole either.
Yes, I think Palacios is Bruce's 1st choice - however that will probably drag ok until the end of August so he may well snag others beforehand
premiership experiance is going to cost and we're not the most attractive proposition in geographical terms aswell as glamour, best bet bring in players who use us as a stepping stone
The transfer market has been slow. A lot transfers are because of a domino effect. Club A signs a player, but has to let a player go to Club B, who then let player go to Club C.
I suspect there will be a fair amount of business done late in the window, but we don't have the luxury of being able to wait that long, I expect whichever defensive midfielder we sign to be in place ahead of the opener against Chelsea.
