So the company that holds the players etc is still going, can't see it lasting tho. Such a shame when owners of clubs **** up and leave thousands of fans fearing the worse. There was a report saying Pompey would be the last club to be run like crap, kinda makes it bullshit now. Always liked Coventry and it's a shame what is happening to them, hopefully they can sort something out tho.
I remember that a lot of fans wanted the SISU takeover at the time. Whilst I obviously think that clubs should listen to their fans, thank goodness they didn't on this occasion.
Coventry used to bug me when they were in the top division which was solely down to the presence of Mickey Quinn. And the fact Dion Dublin always scored against us. This is a horrible situation for their fans though and I do hope it gets sorted quickly and positively.....
Never particularly liked Coventry City, but wouldn't wish this on their fans. There but for the grace of God...
If they are liquidated, how do they carry on playing. seems to be the same as going into administration. Or is it one of those separate company things?
I would hope for fairness sake that they get at least a points deduction. The FA tend to make it up as they go along though don't they.
They will get a points deduction that's for sure.....How lucky were we though? It just doesn't bare thinking about....I too feel for the Coventry fans. I also think though that it will not be long before a club does go broke and straight out of existence as high up as Div one. At the rate of clubs going into liquidation for me it is almost bound to happen. Buyers are not always going to be found......Pompey were dead lucky on that score others will not be.
Pompey have lived a charmed life, that's for sure, but I'm pleased they are still kicking, football wouldn't be the same without the little blighters. Terribly sad situation at Coventry, but so evitable I'm afraid to say. When SISU first started sniffing around us, even in our perilous state, alarms bells were ringing. I wish them luck, but expect the worst.
Coventry, as some of the more mature of us might recall, were our big rivals for promotion in the 60's and subsequently became one of those teams we could never seem to beat. Last time I was there was that 4-2 win, and found their fans as friendly and knowledgeable as I'd come to expect. One of their fans shouted "lucky" to our group as we arrived at our cars. "What?" we asked. "Yeah, dead lucky we were. You should have scored 8!". To have that sense of humour when things are going belly up is brilliant. Sad news.
Football League agree to transfer ownership from original group Coventry City Ltd to Otium Group. Club will start League 1 season with ten-point deduction, rather than 15.
Dare I give credit to Rupert Lowe on that score..? It comes grudgingly from me, but if there's one thing he should know about it is recognising a dodgy financial deal.
Rupes is in the minor leagues of dodgy owners compared to some of these Pompey/Blackburn/Cov guys. Anyway I've got a plane home to catch.
Looks like more financial jiggery pokery at work. Clubs league registration has been transferred to another company called Otium Entertainment group which has resulted in the 10 point deduction, but I guess the liquidation of the old company will clear a lot of the debts. When you look at the value of the potential Bale transfer its got to be up to the FA to try and get money filtered down from the top. The increased length of the parachute payments will help clubs if they look after themselves. I know other clubs complain about this, but the vast majority of clubs which experience financial difficulties are those relegated from the prem.
