QPR Boss Makes Clear Redknapp Talking Rubbish â Remy Loan Deal Is On 1 min ago by Graham Porter At one time you couldnât shut the likes of John Hall and Freddy Shepherd up when they were running Newcastle, how times change. GEN0009_Loic_Remy_NUFCThere is obviously a happy middle ground but one club Chairman who happily communicates with fans and everybody else is QPRâs Tony Fernandes. Fernandes mainly uses Twitter to communicate on what at times is a minute to minute basis but overall he seems to have a very good rapport with Rangersâ fans who appreciate the openness and updates. Only problem is that having another publicity hungry person at your club can lead to conflicting messages, this is what âArry Redknapp had to say yesterday with regard to a possible loan deal on their striker Loic Remy; âI donât think he (Remy) will go on loan, I donât see any sense in it. I donât know why we would £8m and then loan him out, if he wants to go then someone will have to pay for him â he has a buy-out clause (£8m) and we want our money back.â However, the QPR Chairman has now said the following via Twitter admitting they canât keep âexpensive playersâ in the Championship and that âLoans are a good optionâ. However, Fernandes also intimates that they could be looking at a loan deal for a year with the hope/expectation that instant promotion will happen and they can then get these loan players back for their Premiership return. Remy would appear to be the central figure in that kind of strategy. However, it takes some leap of faith to believe Mike Ashley would pay massive wages to a loan player if there was no guarantee of acquiring this âassetâ if the short-term loan proved a success. âWe need players who want to play with us. And apply themselves. We canât keep expensive players.â âSome players want to play in the Premier League due to World Cup. Loans are a good option. As we hope to come back to the Premier League.â âWe learnt from last season. We wonât repeat same mistakes. Full stop. You will see some exciting new faces and some leavers will disappoint.â
Harry and Tony do more talking than most of The Championship owners and managers put together. Tony should take the lead, and Harry pipe down a little imho
To my surprise I probably side with Harold on this one. Either he plays for us or he doesn't, loaning him may get (some) of the wages of the books, but his resale (unless he destroys the Prem) drops as his contract is a year shorter on return.
"However, Fernandes also intimates that they could be looking at a loan deal for a year with the hope/expectation that instant promotion will happen and they can then get these loan players back for their Premiership return. Remy would appear to be the central figure in that kind of strategy." How is this a good strategy? What does that say to the players that come back up and then in waltzes 'billy I was too good to play with you last year' and didn't want to graft with you? That will create exactly the same problem that we have had for the last two years. I thought we were supposed to be learning from our mistakes? If they aren't wanting to leave because of the money there has to be a game of brinkmanship - if you want to earn the monies, fine you earn it in the championship. If you want to play prem/world cup football, well you might have to take a pay cut. We should not be pandering to these premaddonas who want the best of both worlds. "Some players want to play in the Premier League due to World Cup" - Could be cesar?
If we loan Remy and he has a great season, someone will come in and pay his release fee. We wont get anything if he gets banged up We will only get him back if he has a poor season so its a no win situation for us. We have to sell him or have him score the goals to take us up.
Interesting. You can loan a player out to a lower team without problem. But if you loan out to a higher league team, it may cause resentment if the player comes back after promotion. The difference between the last couple of seasons and the Remy example could be that the players know Remy and he's already contributed goals to the team. So there may be less resentment if he came back. But I agree, it's still a consideration for QPR management
These are the latest noises Harry is making http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/harry-qpr-want-2m-for-remy-loan-deal
I can't see anyone forking out £8m for a player who may be banged up come September. Remy's only realistic option for moving on in this window is a month-by-month loan deal on which QPR are slapping a big fee on. He will still be ours to sell in January.
I'm sorry, I've kept my negative counsel for long enough!!!! We are run by a team no better than Dumb and Dumber, Fernandes has learnt nada, ingting, ne rien, zilch , NOTHING from the last 2 years of fiasco. Redknapp has been found out to be nothing but a dumbwit media whore who's time should have been up. For all of you who say we are so lucky to have Tone - BBBBBLLLLLLLLLLLLRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR to you! When the Media slut took over we were Premiership and with the right management we were a marketable enterprise - look at what we are now in just 2 years!!!! On the Remy saga - I have to side with Dumbwit Redkanpp on this one, Fernandes doesn't have a clue!! - Oh to have the nous and business savvy of Ecclestone, Briatore and Paladini - You can say what you want and laugh at their 4 year plan but when they took over we had no wins from 7 or 8 games in the CCC heading quickly South - they left us in the Prem - Go figure. And this Count Fernandes has the audacity to say he's learning - Dear Fernandes, I hereby decree you the Count of Counts - You should be especially proud when you were up against the likes of Magilton, Briatore, Hart, Hughes, Barton and many more..........
It's not often I come across a fan that yearns for the return of Ecclestone and Briatore The best thing they ever did for the club was bring in the Mittals who insisted on an end to the managerial revolving door policy of Briatore and brought in Warnock. We were promoted despite, not because of the deadly duo, and they shafted us royally before the season began by delaying the sale to Fernandes which led to Warnock's panic buys. We never recovered our equilibrium. So, have our owners made mistakes? Sure. Would I want Bernie and Flavio back? Not this side of hell
I think Harry needs to get off the media and Tonz needs to get off twitter ................. and go and talk together. Reach a plan because at present, they seem working in different directions. The need to be seen to be working as one is requested by one and all. At present we have a different age group on one media speaking the complete opposite to a younger, different media type related person. It's not working gents ............ get it right!
You can paint it as you want - They had a plan to get us into the Prem within 4 years -did they do it? Even despite of if that's how you want it. The value and stock of QPR was greater when they left than now? - well is it? An don't you f..ing dare presume that I yearn for those goons - because I don't, but FFS Dumb and Dumber have taken us and are taking us to a ridicule I had yearned to leave behind many moons ago!
Well, I'm glad to hear you don't want the goons back, Danish. Bernie's likely to be preoccupied in Germany pretty soon anyway! The goons were an important link in the chain to where we are now...which, lest we forget, is a better place than we'd been for many years. But that's the only credit I'm going to give them
Doesn't look like Remy to Newcastle is a goer. Le Toon have just agreed a fee for striker Gomis from Lyon.
Agreed, just saw this now I've said all along that Remy will be with us until Christmas. There's far more players in the queue for the exit door before him.
Redknapp's mentioned in his press conference that if a team wants to loan Remy they'll have to pay £2 million at least, and pay all his wages Same with Taraabt
'Dumb and Dumber' I don't know whether to laugh or cry. oh and I think you might find Warnock had something to do with us getting to the Prem. And that was despite them two.
