Just seen on Twitter that Donelly has been given the green light for a season long loan with us, would expect this to be confirmed 100% today.

Looked at his wiki page and he looks like a decent prospect, Andy Bond is better though.

That's a good idea Rocky. How often do you do your back ups? I haven't quite got the hang of mine yet.

I know it's very Oxford United to talk like this, but interesting to see we had a higher average attendance than Colu last season, despite being a division lower, and with Colchester winning 12 and losing just 4 of their home games last season. With their budget being cut for next year, it could be that a campaign of woe lies ahead for John Ward's men.......

In all seriousness though, and with our average last year our worst ever in the FL, it would be interesting to see what any colu fans think the reasons are for their low gates? Is it Cowling's chairmanship? Ward's tactics? The stadium? Genuinely would be interested.

Interesting. What would also be interesting is to see tables for the whole of Leagues 1 and 2, showing gates for last year against previous year and against highest and lowest averages, to see if it is a general trend in these Leagues and/or how we look in the wider perspective. I know show jumping is a totally different sport and it costs a lot more to enter shows than going to a football match but entries have been down across the board this year. One major show had to be cancelled due to lack of support and entries. Our show was more fortunate than others with a reduction in entries from 600 down to 500 this year, around a 17% decrease. The other difference is they come from all over the UK (Scotland, Wales, IOM, Guernsey, IOW) and the high cost of diesel is a factor. Whereas I would expect the majority of League 1 and 2 team fans to be relatively local. However the economic situation must be playing its part in all sporting activities. Maybe we can look forward to an economic upturn in 2 to 3 years, coinciding with our promotion to the Championship. :)
