I see the Reserves new season fixtures are again in a poor Central League Division. I had not realised that our poor Academy rating means we cannot play Premier Reserve League unlike last time when we were in PL. Any likelihood of a club announcement of a strategy with a timetable for getting us out of this embarrassing predicament?
It's pretty shocking, but you're right, they've changed it to the Professional Development League. When you look at the level of the club, then look at the teams we're playing against in the reserves, it's a shambles. Barnet have a better youth set up than we do. Apparently our reserves/youth are only as good as Accrington, Newport County, Fleetwood Town and Morcambe.
Maybe a good time for Burnsey or someone at BBC to ask questions of both SB and the Allams as we are not going to be sustainable at any level above league 1 in the longer term unless we address this problem
I wouldn't go that far, but I'm sure it's worth asking. Ring Sportstalk tonight and ask them what they think about it. At least it will put the thought in their head.
The PL have totally messed up the reserve league for the new system which is a farce anyway. imo it should go back to the PL reserve league which was far better. I am told the issue we have at the moment is to do with a lack of a facility. Now that does need addressing.
