ESPN are breaking a story this evening which claims that Remy is all but signed:

"Newcastle United are on the verge of securing a loan deal for Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy, a source close to the player has told ESPN FC."

    http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1...er-loic-remy-close-newcastle-loan?new&cc=5739

Shame it's an unnamed 'source close to the player' but I hope this is true. He is the striker we need most... If he doesn't go to prison.

Read somewhere today that although we were in discussions regarding Remy yesterday, they were with QPR as we are not yet at the stage of talking to the player. Apparently we were trying to get QPR to agree to paying the bulk of Remy's wages for the period of the loan. Not just a portion of the wages, but the bulk of them. Think they'll agree to that?

not much to discuss with the player on a loan deal. the terms of their contract continue, it's just a question of whether they fancy pulling on your strip or not

I think this may happen today - Charlie Austin has just signed for QPR.

QPR have signed Charlie Austin. Hopefully this will make them more agreeable to letting Remy go.

That droopy-faced fat old **** needs to realize that no one's going to pay for Remy while he has a rape charge hanging over his head.

Quite often their is a loan fee. Could be a couple of million. Also as said. Parent clubs sometimes pays a percentage of wages. Mind you that's usually for Premier league clubs to lower clubs and not the other way round. If your cap is around £40k and he's supposedly on £80k. It costing Qpr £2m to loam him to you. Weird.

What I never understood about this whole thing was that Newcastle United, under Ashley, operate a Capex model, rather than Opex. They pay all fees up front and are not interested in structured deals. We offer cash and it's paid up there and then. It wouldn't make any sense in the present structure to take Remy on loan. We MUST have the wages space to afford him, having already got rid of several of the first team squad. We obviously have the cash to be able to pay £8m. So what's the hold-up now? Joe and Mike offering the same £2m they offered for Bent?

On the other hand, somebody should let the one who loves to spend other peoples money, that the likes of Remy, Samba and the others must be crippling the club with wages.
