Well, don't you already have like 800 players in the squad now? Half of the Ligue 1 at least <nahnah>

F**ks sake people, who left the bookie's door open again. These 2 have only gone and escaped into society!

How many of those Sunderland signings would get you excited if Newcastle signed them?

Giaccherini is a quality player and Cabral looked good for Basel. Other than that?

'Sunderland fans are getting a bit carried away, and some are talking about top three or four after the win over Spurs last week. I can’t see that but fair play to them for giving it a go this summer.'

Not sure anyone has said that! If they have then it would have surely been tongue in cheek

About the transfers, you're squad is still quite strong. Obviously strength in depth is something that would need seeing to, but in terms of quality in your starting 11 you're looking good.

My worry if I was a Newcastle fan would be Pardew and how he'd set the team up. If you play hoofball again then your fortunes won't improve much imo. Another worry is Kinnear seemingly waiting for Pardew to get the sack so he can take over

As for us I'm quite happy with what we've done so far and look forward to the season ahead. If we're safe from relegation with 5+ games remaining then I'd be delighted

It's a high risk approach by PDC. It will either pay rich dividends or backfire... i don't see any middle ground tbh.
I think after a barren period for hit and miss signinigs our neighbours are happy to see positive moves being made in the transfer market.
As fans we all live in hope season after season so fair play to them for being positive.
On our side of the fence unfortunately a rumour can't score a tap in from 5 yards we our hope is more that we can drag at least a new striker over the much vaunted line.

Seeing what the respective squads of NUFC and SAFC were like before the summer transfer window started, if we can manage to get a couple of good strikers in then we might still end with the better squad when the window shuts, no matter the lesser quantity of signings.

This is the PL not Swindon though. And it all ended in tears due to his volatile nature. It might come off, it might not. You can't fault the brave nature of their work though.

If everyone was offered the two squads as they stand right now, which would you choose?

And he bought players that were at Swindons level and got them to work and yes there were hiccups but still he succeeded. Sadly, for us, I think he may turn them in to a safe mid table team

I think he'll do ok. I think he is one of the biggest bell tops going but I do like the discipline and fitness aspect. Swindon were fairly attacking too. There are no guarantees when you have that kind of overhaul though. I can see the feel good carrying them through the early stages before they hit a sticky patch. The league is tough and with so little PL experience amongst the new lads, I think you have to accept a few will struggle until they settle.

Just get two strikers in and I'll be happy.

Bent I don't mind but I'd rather a rusty coat hanger down the Japs eye than have that useless bastard here

We are not talking about top 4 !, top 10 yes if they play like they can most of the season, but Di canio had to do something and the director of football has a great record with signings, Gyan being one of them !, but he buggered of like Bent. Watmore looks a hell of a prospect.
