Alberto I think is more of a grooming stage in the CM as he can also be played in a variety of positions and thought he was playing higher up with Barca. Gerrard, Lucas, Allen, and Hendo gives us 4 but just don't think it has that quality we need. We will see though and we also still have spearing there as he has yet to go. Hard to keep that many happy but why you gotta go for quality, rather have 4 top than 7 with maybe 1-2 top players and the rest fillers.
both good points. all things being equal it is lucas and gerrard and then one other, be it coutinho or allen with coutinho further on. in short allen and henderson and alberto = bluffs point ..... put that lot in in an fa cup final and we'd crap ourselves. we knew under kenny when we went out on cup final day that the midfield was not up to it and it proved so. It really is a case that the squad is full though so we have to sell on these two and replace rather than simply turn in another player purchase. both are yuong (22) and so both have some time to develop. Having 2 so young aint ideal in my view but it is where we are. In an ideal world i'd want dembele not allen and another top player too... but hey...
I agree that maybe there isn't enough quality. But what I was saying is that we definitely have the right number of players for central midfield. Whether Allen and Henderson (and Alberto, while untested) are of the right calibre I'm still undecided frankly. They both need another season to really see what they are capable of while they're both young.
