Yorkshire radio has been axed statement from the OS: http://www.leedsunited.com/news/201...3332242?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
Copied and pasted below from the official site DAB station to go off air... The club can confirm that Yorkshire Radio was to be taken off air at 6pm on Tuesday July 30. The decision has been made to concentrate the club's digital media output on LUTV and the soon-to-be launched new-look website. Manager director David Haigh said: "This is one of the toughest decisions we have made, and we would like to place on record our thanks to all the staff at Yorkshire Radio, who have worked tremendously hard over the years to build up a Yorkshire sports station on DAB."
I get the impression that the BBC Leeds deal was done on the assumption that Yorkshire Radio would be going as soon as they could get rid, as well as the fact that even with Yorkshire Radio there, getting the deal with the BBC will likely result in more money coming in. Then they've just waited for bates to make a mistake (didn't take long) and they've axed him and all his dross. I love it. I hope they pettily bring down the East Stand now, even though it doesn't make financial sense, just as a big **** you to ken.
As Yorkshire Radio was owned by Leeds United AFC, and Leeds United AFC is owned by GFH, why would they have to wait until Bates was gone to get rid of it ? More likely the fact that the new season starts on Saturday with BBC Radio Leeds doing the commentary, seems like the perfect time to shut it down.
Presumably with LUTV presentations starting at 2.30, if I want to hear anything on matchdays prior to 2.30, all I need to do is find BBC Radio Leeds. Correct? Does that mean Yorkshire radio willbe disappearing from sky channel 0209??
Don't know the full details of the BBC Radio Leeds deal Boggers, but it seems that Yorkshire Radio will cease to be, so Sky Channel 0209 won't be any use to you.
Cheers Wicks. Think it may have happened. Was listening to Yorkshire radio, changed chanels to listen to something else, & then switched back to Yorkshire radio to find the sound of silence. Shame about Tom Kirwin. Thought he wasn't too bad. Hope this means Eddie Gray will also be moved onto something else. Class act on the pitch. Crap commentator
Bye bye knobend Fry!! "Mr Chairman, it is alleged you steal money from the club and don't care about the morons. As your official mouthpiece, I'd like you to let me pull my head out of your ass and defend you with a bunch of loaded questions that will result in one sided answers designed to make you look awesome." YR wasset up so that Bates could control the message coming from ER without any probing journos getting in the way. YR replaced BBC because Bates wanted a propoganda station in his pocket, even if it cost him £700k per year to run it. Than fcuk they're toast, including Thom Kirwin, because they knowingly took the dictator's dirty money, and in return painted a positive image of the man who was robbing us blind. No mercy!!! Fry needs to be removed from his role as pitchside presenter at ER as well, the grovelling sellout!!
bates pettiness probably had a clause in the contract that meant Yorkshire Radio had to remain in place. Rendered null and void by his dismissal.
I was baffled by the sound of silence from Yorkshire Radio tonight!! Thought it might be connected to Bates falling out with the Club (I assumed he still had his finger in the odd pie) & he had suspended its airplay. Didn't realise the Club had pulled the plug on it. Well done GFH. It WAS just Bates' propaganda puppet. I hope the money the Club save from it is used to pay the wages of a new player (or two). I still think Bates owns the ER & TA, watch the rent go up now!!!!!
I suppose pulling the plug on your radio station had to happen guess there will be more major cut-backs now you've lost Bates to pay your bills
Its just a fumigation Mighty,we're getting rid of the Master Bates' disease and the bad smell Its a fresh start, LEEDS UNITED are on the way back up Whilst the poor Wallies are on the way back down to lg1 gonna miss you guys
You might be the only one! For us overseas chaps, will it be possible to find the commentary on a BBC website or will we have to rely on someone streaming as we did before?
