Why the **** do Real constantly overrate spurs players? bale is not worth 85+ million the same way luka "3 goals & 3 assists" modric was never worth 35.
I do not mind what it cost to get Bale as he is a world class player already. At Madrid he will be much better than Luca.
I think you are arguing over his cost and not his worth. His worth to Spurs is only what they can sell him for, if they sell him. If Real buy him or Spurs hang onto him, and he does not help them win or improve them, his worth will be considerably less.
Bale is worth £80M. Whether we want to admit it or not he is one of the top 10 players in the world (at least). He is also pretty young and physically he is a beast, he's got another 7 or 8 top seasons in him yet. When you consider he still has 3 years to run on his Spurs contract and how marketable he is (Madrid will make the transfer fee back by X-Mas) then Spurs have every reason to want £80M+ for him. I do hope that he is sold, simply because I don't buy this argument that Spurs can build an amazing squad with that sort of money. They have lots of good players but they don't have any other world class players like Bale and without Champions League football they are not going to be able to lure one. That is unless Madrid force the likes of Coentrao and Di Maria to go the other way, that would royally **** me off.
Surprised that Bale is pushing for a move to Madrid this summer. Always thought he would want to stay one more year and then move. He is young enough to give Spurs another year, and has a whole team built around him there.
I thought this was a discussion not an argument, but that is just semantics rather like the difference between cost and worth! For what its worth I don't believe any footballer is actually worth £80m, or for that matter the ridiculous wages that so many of them are paid but that's a whole new discussion
I get what you mean but players like all commodities are worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for them, we don't have to agree or like it but that is the reality. I find it ridiculous that paintings can sell for hundreds of millions of pounds but they do it is just reality. If Real pay 80mn pounds than that is what he is worth. Frankly if that is what is being offered I personally would bite Real's hand off for it.
Bale isn't 'worth' £80m in terms of footballing skill. He's basically had one good season and hauled and average team out of mid table mediocrity, a big fish in a small pond. There's no way he offers a team what Ronaldo or Messi does, but Real are off their heads and if they are offering that money, the Spiv Levy would be mad to turn it down. If Bale has any sort of dip in form or picks up an injury - and still wants out to join Real, then they are going to hammer the spuds and keep chipping away at the price until the Spuds crumble. This time next year they could only be offering 3Om
Agreed with most of the points. Although he isn't quite in the Messi and Ronaldo class, he still remains one of the most exciting and devastating players around at present. Is he worth the money? Not really. But the way the crazy footballing world goes, any price is worth it unless they make the money back, which Batmounu points out. On a side note, did anyone see that Top Gear episode where they drove those 3 supercars around in Spain? Did you see all the building developments abandoned, affectively leaving ghost towns behind due the economic down turn? It's crazy when unemployment is so high in Spain and people are struggling, yet teams like Real Madrid and Barca can buy players for ridiculous sums.
aye seen that ,thought it was bad over here, seems to be 10 times worse over there. And ex burd of mine who was studying over here is from Spain, she moved back over here and got a job in a hotel as there is literally no jobs for anyone under 30 over there.
Yes it really is much worse over in Spain. I work in the city so have picked up on the influx of Spanish and Italians coming into the country.
Yeah, it was amazing to see. The airport is practically brand new but totally unused! A complete resort / town completely deserted too
as you lot kept saying about Modric, every player has a price, well our price for Bale is 85+ million,if they want him that much they will have to pay it,or lump it
@totsfan - do you really believe that though? That Tottenham wouldn't settle for a penny under £85million - i think your living in cukoo land - any REAL offer comming in for thatmuch would be accepted instantly. No idea about all these people who seem to think Bale has such wonderful marketability that he is going to make them there £80 millbackinstantly (batman -your nuts 80m by xmas when they had a 5 year plan to pay off the ronaldo fee?). It's all hype and media nonsense - IF Bale goes it will be for less than £80m. ANY club turning down that sort of money for a player like Bale is just plain ******ed.
Just got my first Negative rep in 2 years of posting on the site after 2 days of using the scousers board. Astro wiped out my 50k rep with 1 neg rep rofl.
Yeah cos you were being so reasonable by coming onto the board to say "**** off you scummy little ****" to one of our posters
