More bad news ...

Mark Douglas and George Caulkin have both stated NUFC officials are meeting representatives of Bent this week.
Caulkin added Newcastle are still pursuing Remy on loan and Gomis, although momentum re the latter has been dented by Lyon's demands.

If we get Bent as the only summer signing I will be SO disappointed...

I'd rather we got Bent than nobody but only just.

 

Apparently he is Kinnear's sole task. In that sense my view is nothing is going to come of it and its really just giving him a bone to keep him distracted while the real business goes on around him without his interfering presence ...... I hope

 

It appears to be the case.

You get the impression that Bent has always been a fall-back option if we didn't get Remy/Gomis.
Now that Fulham seem interested in Bent again, it may have forced our hand.

It doesn't necessarily mean we've given up on other options, but just covering all bases.

If he does sign, he knows its his last chance, so he might just be hungry to prove a point or two to quite a few people.

I would give him a chance if it does come off.

 

I can see us getting Remy and Bent, but we'll still need a winger and a CB

I would have bent as 3rd choice or 4th choice, he would be okay to come on in the last ten mins etc.

I just cant see us paying him 60k a week (or whatever it'd be) to be used as a back up, think there's cheaper/better options out there

Right, looking for the bright side is now requiring use of the Hubble telescope BUT how about:

a. we still intend to sign Gomis;

b. Lyon's valuation of Gomis is based on the assumption we have no other options;

c. we are speaking to Bent to show Lyon we have other options, and don't want Gomis after all

d. Lyon will cave in and we will get Gomis for our price.

There have been a fair few reports stating that Bent was Pardew's number one striker choice. Not saying they are true though - with regards NUFC the truth seems to be in short supply this summer (and most of the rest of the time come to think of it!).

 

If Bent comes in and Shola ****s off I wouldn't mind at all. As long as we bring in either Remy or Gomis as well.
