Read an article earlier that Birmingham are after Leon. I would be seriously pissed off if we sold him. He was great last season and unexpectedly pulled us out the **** when we needed it. He has all the attributes to be a great striker, especially pace and he is still young. I hope this story isn't true and we keep Bestie!!!

With what we got for strikers I'd probably put him down as a first choice striker, but there are better ones out there.
But he started to find his feet and was bullying defences a bit like AC before getting injured, I'd want to hang onto him to see how he comes on.

Aye, after his shocking start to the Championship campaign I'm surprised to see it, but towards the end of that season he showed ability and desire (just no luck) this season that hatrick has written him into the history books and won him a lot more time and respect from the crowd, it would be a real shame to see him go so prematurely.

Plus, due to his work rate and presence (strong and physical) him with Ben Arfa and Gervinho/N'Zogbia/Gutierrez lurking around the edges, playing just off him would scare defenses ****less.

Hate to buck the trend but for any decent price I would be happy to see Best sold.

He did a vital job for us in the second half of the season and looks a decent/adequate/not bad sort of player, but not of the standard I think we should be aiming for. We've started the transfer season with 1 and a half first rate acquisitions (treating Gervinho as half acquired at this point). If we land them and two or three more of similar quality, then the team as a whole will be a lot better than Best.

I'd take anything over £2.5m for him.

The fact he has 6prem goals to his name from last season will make his valuation too expensive for a recently relegated team me thinks.

yh but of these transfers were likely to get 2 strikers max, and after these two new strikers who have yet to prove themselves leon is third choice. all we need is for one to get injured and or loose form and Leon would be back in the frame. I would much rather him on the bench than strolla!!! thats for sure

Best is the type of striker we need: ability to win headers, hold the ball and find the net and he's definitely better than both Shola , Loven and Ranger. So even if we find two strikers he should stay as backup.

I'm indifferent about Best. He did well last year but I'd be lying if I said I was convinced. Very average for me but fair play to him last year. In an ideal world we'd sign three strikers. Two first choice, and then sell Lovenkrands/Best to fund a youngster. Reality is different though. I'd be happy if we get one striker to be honest! I'm not against Best staying I'm just not convinced he'll amount to more than a PL also ran. My thoughts on Shola are simple. He's pretty useless. But against the Mackems he's great! Or John Terry for some reason. When he switches on he's a handful as West Brom showed. He's a perma crock too but I'm resigned that he'll keep getting contracts. He must have some really filthy photos of Derek and Mike at the Turkish baths! Lovenkrands bless him, has just gone over the hill but at least he tries. Ranger needs a loan and some shooting training but I wouldn't give up on him.

I had mentioned something like this in regards to Mike and Derek's relationship on the old 606 (it lasted about 8 minutes) when Keegan walked.

Keegan walked into the boardroom and found Derek inserting a fully lubed up Dennis Wise into Mike's orifice.

    I'd have left as well.

I don't know, it might have been interesting (and financialy benefitting) if you'd had a camera with you.

Agree with this except I rate Best slightly more. If we are implementing a system which only uses one striker I think we could get by with him as second choice.

Best is our BEST striker. It'll be ridiculous to sell him unless we have 2 quality strikers coming in, even then I'll still have him as back-up/competition/3rd choice. Has shown he can score in the PL, even though it might have been a purple patch, scoring in 6 in 11 is pretty good for someone who wasn't prolific & looked average in the Championship. <ok>

Sanchino - I don't like to negative but 3 of those goals were against West Ham in the most schoolboy defensive performance I've seen in the PL! 3 in 10 is ok though. Was I the only one who felt slighty sick when Tomkins got called up to replace Micah Richards this summer. I thought what the f**k! Do these England scouts bother watching players or just go off what the Sun says. They should have watched his royal raping in that game, they'd have thought twice.
