Bordeaux have completed the signing of Argentine defender Lucas Orban for a fee of €3.5million (£3m). Orban has joined from Tigres after rejecting a move to River Plate, who owned half the rights to the player. ssn

Sunderland spent several weeks tracking Orban earlier this summer after learning there was no chance of signing last season’s loan success Danny Rose on a permanent basis. But as Orban dragged his heels over deciding his next move – with River Plate, Villarreal and Nice also interested – Sunderland eventually opted to end their pursuit. Fantastic striker. Strong as an ox and run all day, good finisher and good link up. Similar to Altidore in some ways, seems Paolo like's this kinda striker. Biggest strength is timing his runs off the shoulder. He was superb for Lille, we were fleetingly linked when he left. All for.
Personally think we will, still think Ji & Whickham may go out, loans most likely. We only really have Fletch & Altidore of any real substance, Whickham is a million miles from proving himself yet, and Paolo stated he wants 5 strikers. Jozy, Fletch, Mandron, and maybe one of Ji & Connor, I reckon we'll look for 1 more.
Can't see this happening to be honest. Why would we use 18 millions in total on strikers when we have other places on the pitch that we have to strengthen? The 12 millions that we may have bid on this guy could be used on, first of all, two decent fullbacks aswell as a decent midfielder. We don't need three decent strikers(Fletcher, Altidore and Sow), when we're most likely going to play one up top.
