his confidence is down the pan like, sticking to what he knows, i.e. looks to cut inside then go down the line instead of trying new things. this makes defenders lives easy, don't think i saw him skin one player last season where anything came from it. but if you remember his first game for us v blackburn i think with his first touch he was away from the defender and had put a fantastic cross into the box. shows what a bit of confidence can do for you. but for me unless he actually does something in the first half of the season he'll be gone by january if he isn't sold this summer.
Not making them a scape goats.............................you don't even know your doing it mate. Its the eloquence you use to describe their failings - "****". Larsson was played in 6 positions last season, thats right six positions.....................we expect them to be a master of all trades and a jack of none, well you need to wake up and smell the coffee, you could not do six different jobs so why should any player be able to do so. They give 100% and thats what we should look at, we should support 100% not whinge on from a high - some stats here for you to digest. http://www.whoscored.com/Players/11235 There are some weak links on here imho. And I'm off on one again, sorry bri - you touched a nerve - as others did at the weekend - the last season is done and dusted and the players should be given a clean slate - we cannot judge on a overseas tournament on a sub standard pitch. I do not believe Larsson deserves the stick being metered out for playing in a position he is unfamiliar with.
In modern usage a scapegoat is an individual, group, or country singled out for unmerited negative treatment or blame.[1] A whipping boy, "fall guy" or "patsy" is a form of scapegoat. Scapegoat derives from the common English translation of the Hebrew term azazel (Hebrew: עזאזל which occurs in Leviticus 16:8 after the prefix la- (Hebrew לַ "for"). And Aaron shall place lots upon the two he goats: one lot "For the Lord," and the other lot, "For Azazel." —Leviticus, Vayikra 16:8 In ancient Greece a cripple or beggar or criminal (the pharmakos) was cast out of the community, either in response to a natural disaster (such as a plague, famine or an invasion) or in response to a calendrical crisis (such as the end of the year). In the Bible, the goat for Azazel was a goat that was designated (Hebrew לַעֲזָאזֵֽל ) la-aza'zeyl to be outcast in the desert as part of the ceremonies of the Day of Atonement, that began during the Exodus with the original Tabernacle and continued through the times of the temples in Jerusalem. In psychology and sociology, the practice of selecting someone as a scapegoat has led to the concept of scapegoating.
Well I was going to say that it probably had something to with religious sacrifice, but the post above says it all..
Look lads, I'm not in the best mindset at the minute and going in like Joe Bolton on amphetamine- I'm just going to take a break for a week or so, maybe browse but making a conscious effort not to post as I'm taking everything too literally. Death Discoteca - I should not have even logged on at the weekend, sense of humour by pass.........apologies offered.
I posted something similar on mcclean being made a scapegoat and asked for others, I added Kevin kilbane, I was talking about footballers who maybe weren't so good but they tried hard and as a long in the tooth Sunderland fan as i am, have always appreciated effort over sometimes ability. (Before this next level ****) somebody else added Richardson which I thought was a good offering, oh whitehead thers another. So in answer to original post you, we, love a scapegoat!
And you don't even know what a scapegoat is! Never have i at any point blamed our team's failings on those players. I have not made them a scapegoat at all. I've given my opinion on them, sorry you don't like my language but... How do I say it... Tough ****
Just been reading you got stuffing going down fella. No apologies necessary but please accept mine. Sorry for the harsh reply there. Chin up fella. Hope you get your head right soon.
I remember Kevin Kilbane being booed while he was standing on the touchline waiting to come on as substitute. That's all some people go to the match for. They daren't do it at home!
