Maws are excellent, have to admit, I'd find it hard to argue on their individual pies, but do they beat a Dicksons plate pie? Tough, tough call.
I see you saveloy dip and raise you a curry mince sandwich (from the new green street deli..south shields)
How far is this Deli from the District Hospital - I may have to pop down for one of these sandwiches as I work in STDH!
If you want to talk about good cuisine in the county of Durham then give Ochis Caribbean restaurant a blast in darlington. It's divine!
If your driving it's not too far. It's located at the town center end of Frederick street. Used to be an old butchers shop and the butcher turned it into a fantastic pork shop. The sandwiches are always spot on. Beef dips, Saveloy dips, pies, pasties...
I checked and i'm 1/2 mile outside of the free delivery zone. They quoted 50p to deliver to me and i'm too tight to pay it.
I live in Shields like - next to the allum house. Gonna give this green street deli a blast. Sounds superb
Never heard of curried mince till I came to Shields lads got to admit it is very nice though will give this place a try on our afternoon trips to Shields for a few beers.
I haven't been to it for a good 5-6 years so if they've stopped curried mince then don't blame me. If they have stopped them i have found a quick recipe for you.. (so simple even the mags board could manage it) stuff you'll need.... a stottie.. 1/2 pound of mince 1/2 onion (diced) a tablespoon of your favourite curry powder a little tomato puree/paste or passata (we are an italian club now!) fry the onions, add the mince until brown for 5-10 mins on high heat. add the curry powder and cook for a futher 5 minutes then add the tomato. Put the concoction in your stotty. Roll up your sleeves.. pop on Wysywig sports and crack open a john smiths. p.s. be careful of you mams/nanas/lasses antimacassars as curry mince is a bugger to get out on a normal wash.
