We needed to beat Southend on the final match of the season to stay in the third tier when Mike Smith was manager. Thankfully won 1-0 with a late Keith Edwards goal in front of 3500. Sadly got relegated the following year.

I am also surprised at the response Airlie.

My thoughts is any team from my home City that get to Wembley can only a good thing for the City...... couldn't give a toss if some fellow Hull City AFC fans dont like or Hull FC or despise RL for that matter that's up to them, but I ain't afraid to say I love both sports and have had great time and banter going to both.

I see old and young male and female enjoying sport.

    <cheers>

No, a direct comparisson would be wishing FC got relegated, wouldnt it? This is a one off cup final.

Semi final of the cup vs hull fc, i had no idea there was such a match so i replied ' i hope you guys win and embarrass them' now it's up to wigan

I hope hull fc don't score a single point

Technically yes, I was just referring to those who wish ill on another team from Hull only to complain when they get a similar response back.

So if Hull KR got to Wembley or the Grand Final would you be roundly cheering them on? And in 1980 were you delighted at the end of the match? A Hull team won afterall....

I can't see why anyone would want a Hull team to do badly(other than a Rovers fan not wanting FC to win), it seems proper cockish to me.

There's very little interest left in eggchasing, there'll be more at City v Norwich than will travel from Hull to Wembley.

I struggle to care about rugby, and FC when their fans actually hope we lose all the time. People who support FC and Man United and also hate Hull City need to take a long hard look at themselves.

Exactly this^ If some don't like rugby, why not leave it at that ? I don't rate rugby, but that doesn't mean i need to hate it. I'm just indifferent to the sport. "Cockish" yes that's a perfect description...

I'm a Rovers fan but credit to FC, they deserved the win. Hope they win it now, I won't be cheering them on but they are a 'Ull club, via Gateshead granted.

I thought it was a fantastic achievement by a Hull club yesterday, as they were the underdogs.

I also, will not be going to Wembley to watch the Final , but wish them good luck ( as they will be underdogs yet again).

Never wished any Hull side to lose.

I'm Hull but if KR were in a similar position I would be supportive, but if it is Hull vs KR then it has to be Hull every time. I was there in 1980, just posted to Windsor from a few years in Germany and it was bloody great to go to Wembley, meet all my old mates from both sides of the river and enjoy a fantastic weekend with two of my home town's teams competing for the sport's top trophy - sport is not any sort of a reason for bile, as was displayed by the sing-songs between most of the M62 teams supporters on the Saturday night. Some of you really do need to lighten up.

Well I havent criticised them at all or said I hope they lose the final, I'm merely questionning the 'must support a team from Hull' claim when Im pretty sure FC fans are gutted every time Rovers beat them. And those that do hate the rugby teams, I blame the HDM and other media for this. It is the biased, ill-balanced reporting that has brought this on and created a strong dislike amongst some City fans. For example reference to a "Bumper derby crowd" of 17k, followed the week later by City's 'worrying decline in attendances' down to 16k and the complete refusal to print any stories regarding rugby hooliganism when every single fan in Super League knows the 2 teams are the worst around for violence.

That's not the point .. you could be right you could be wrong about how many go to Wembley from Hull personally I think you will be wrong but the day will be enjoyed. It's what floats ya boat.

I enjoy watching loads of sports, but when I was much younger I loved it when Rovers lost now the only game I want them to loose is against Hull FC to much real sh*t happens in life to care.

there are great things to be seen in all sports.

There are people on here who do allot of Dick swinging ours is bigger than yours. So what?

I don't know you slate the Mail for **** reporting and now you slate them for truthful reporting. Christ it wasn't long ago that posters on here where worrying about the attendances at City matches at the KC. And lets face it the derby between Hull and Rovers usually are bumper crowds, probably the highest in the Super League. So they are not reporting much about City at present, well guess what m8 that could be cause the ****ing football doesn't start till mid August.
