Now that the preseason friendlies are over and i would suspect our recruitment is almost completed i was thinking how would our first 9 games go in the new season as a bit of fun i have put up my points tally after these games . What do you think our points tally will be after these games. Swansea v Man Utd Sat 17 Aug 3pts Tottenham v Swansea Sun 25 Aug 0pts West Brom v Swansea Sat 31 Aug 1pt Swansea v Liverpool Mon 16 Sep 1pt Crystal Palace v Swansea Sat 21 Sep 3pts Swansea v Arsenal Sat 28 Sep 1pt Southampton v Swansea Sat 5 Oct 1pt Swansea v Sunderland Sat 19 Oct 15:00 3pts Swansea v West Ham Sat 26 Oct 15:00 3pts 16pts. Cheers Mabon
You're determined that we'll beat Man Utd, aren't you Mabon We are looking good at the moment, but Man U are still Man U.
At worst I'm thinking 12 points but if we really hit our straps it could be as much as 18 or even 20 with some games too close to call. As a result, Mabon, I think your guess of 16 points is a reasonable average. That's my guess as well but if you want me to be different, I'll be optimistic and say 17. For me, it all hinges on our first game. If we can squeeze a win against United, the confidence boost should take us closer to my upper limit of 20.
Ok let's give this a go... Utd 1 point Spurs without Bale 1 point (0 points otherwise) West Brom 1 points (weaker without Lukaku) Liverpool 3 points Palace 3 points Arsenal without signings 3 points (with Suarez, 1 point) Southampton 1 point Sunderland 3 points West Ham 3 points Total 19 points best case scenario Otherwise 17 points
I am going for a more pessimistic 15 points. The Utd game should be a great game and we will push them all the way but they will do what they normally do and nick a point. I hope we get better officials at WBA this season (Sian we need you!) and its the sort of game we could well lose. So a possible 1 pt from our first 3 games but with 14 pts from our last 6 games it will onwards and upwards as we approach the derby game Swansea v Man Utd 1pt Tottenham v Swansea 0pts West Brom v Swansea 0pts Swansea v Liverpool 3pts Palace v Swansea 3pts Swansea v Arsenal 1pt Soton v Swansea 1pt Swansea v Sunderland 3pts Swansea v West Ham 3pts
I am definitely much more confident now than what i was when we had all that crap going on between laudrup and jinx as back then i could not see us getting more than 4-5 points but now i look at the games coming up and look where we may drop points. We are playing man utd at the best time being the first game up and looking at their pre-season then its not going to plan for them, Im not that stupid that i don't recognize they are a great side regardless of how their pre-season is going but i think we can beat them at home this time that will boost the players confidence even higher to send us on a good run.....i cant wait for the season to start....

Remember we had a shed load of draws last season, so you'll notice I've gone for that to start the season, but if Bony comes flying out of the blocks, then we could easily turn some of those draws into wins, which would then give us 19 points!..........
You do realise 19 points in 8 is near Prem winners / definate Champions League form? At that rate you are looking at a final total of 81 points! I will be more than happy with 12 points from 8 myself
You do realise that we now have the complete team, and all it's theoretical parts Swim, so a top six finish could well be in our grasp, but there will be some negative side effects from our Europa League, unless we ditch the home cup competitions this season!..................
Everyone may be in danger of getting a little carried away at present. It's not that long since our dismal end to last season.
27 points minimum, if we don't get that then laudrup will have to go im afraid and he can take his flops with him..
Know were your coming from, but that was mostly down to some spinless midfield displays, and no Striker, so I can't see that this season!..........
I would be quite happy with 12 points. We have some really difficult teams at the start, and to get points from any of our first 3 games would be a good result. Yes we should beat Palace, but who knows...
I would settle for 12pts but 15 pts would make me a very happy bunny Phil I see you get us to 15 pts by being unbeaten after 9 that can only be described as a very solid start

So a win likely there. Liverpool at home, I was tempted to go for 3 points, but have to stop being overly optimistic, as 20/27 is a little OTT Palace, Southampton away, I honestly think 4/6 there Arsenal at home, a point at most, maybe even a loss, but being optimistic there, and Sunderland, West Ham am going for home wins.

I really think the only teams that could beat us out of that lot are Manu and Spurs, though the likes of West Ham and Sunderland pose a different type of threat that we haven't been that good at coping with, but I'm pretty upbeat that Laudrup has now got a handle on the Premier League teams, and the field good factor in the dressing room with a quality man up front with Michu, cannot be underestimated, so I've gone with a number of draws as we bed in, and a few wins that I think we'll get, and I'm pretty confident of a first home game win against Manu!.....................
