Leeds are facing the new Football League season still with financial difficulties, which GFH told the Guardian in February is due to Bates having mortgaged two years of season-ticket money for £5m, forward sold the Elland Road catering contract for £2m and borrowed £1.5m from the club sponsor to help pay the £10m cost of the building work. Bates insisted that was a good decision, which many fans believed came at the expense of strengthening the team. "We built 4,000 corporate seats and that is where you make money," Bates said.

He argued that the cashflow problems Leeds faced after he sold the club to GFH was not due to the building work, but to GFH, who had effectively been in executive control since June 2012. He did not expand on which GFH decisions taken, or expenses incurred, had caused the need for a cash injection since the takeover of between £13m and £15m.

It is thought that further money, close to £10m, will be required to keep Leeds going financially with a Championship squad this season. Bates, who argues he has transformed Leeds since 2005, claimed that GFH had struggled to pay the club's wages in March and he said he had "arranged" for Lutonville – although not his company – to lend the club £1m. Bates said this £1m should have been paid back at the end of June, and had not been, so he is planning to sue for it. He also warned that he is likely to sue over his departure as president, which he and Suzannah argued was "unfair".

GFH told the Observer they have signed confidentiality agreements with Bates and so declined to comment on any of it, including the reasons for his tenure as president being so suddenly terminated. Thus a near 50-year career in the people's game nears its final destination, for one of England's most notable football men.

Yet GFH told us the day they took over we had NO debts, which I would have assumed meant all loans paid off... Such a transparent lot aren't they....

Ristac - This debt is a recent one - what doesn't make sense is why borrow £1M to pay wages then spend £1M on a player a few weeks later - unless the £1M for Murphy is now a debt too!!

No we need to see him perjury himself!!!

Court records are wonderful things, all the previous cases will come back and haunt him.

He can not risk taking us to court, not now someone else controls all the facts and can present them so clearly :emoticon-0116-evilg

He has no idea how the law actually works. Odds are the dismissal was entirely fair. Gfh seem to have been very careful with dealing with the contractual stuff so far.

    Marko
They may have been very careful and i believe so too <ok>
But what have they signed to keep confidential my guess is it isnt not to tell anybody thay Bates hasnt paid his road fund licence <laugh>

Sounds to me and im only guessing they have both conspired to fraud the govmt. over taxes AND if GFH know this to be true then they are both just as guilty
Bates will get his dosh back one way or another and if GFH have any sense at all theyll just pay him off <ok>

What ever it is they have done between them im sure it isnt legal (and im only guessing)

Maybe they have agreed to give all the money they earn to charity i dont know.

but my gut feeling is not good..

The confidentiality agreement serves one purpose - to keep the fans from knowing the truth. bates can spout his mouth of denying this that and the other and nobody can legally prove otherwise because those who know the truth are bound by contract not to say anything.

    It's as simple as that.

They do when the one who has to present it could be as guilty as the one who requested it <ok>
