RH reporting that SB is going to concentrate on the midfield now we have the strikers sorted. All they need to do now is score goals!!!!

Good. We're simply not creative enough in midfield

We'll get Cattermole. I just have a feeling and i'll be well happy if we do.

It seems Bruce doesn't fancy him, not sure why, he obviously did in the past.

We may now be spending our striker money on central midfield, Bruce wants either Huddlestone or Palacios, I'm afraid I can't see us getting either.

Maybe he's injuries nacked him and Brucey knows. Cos if ever a team needed a fighter its us. Agree i cant see either of those two coming. Dont think Huddlestone's the player we need anyway, good tho he is.

Huddlestone would be a brilliant coup, however I still think we need someone similar to Scott Parker (a few years ago!). We have never replaced Ashbee, and that is the sort of combative midfielder we need to sit along side Meyler and Quinn next season.

People keep talking about the need for a defensive, scrapping midfielder butmy question is where is the creativity going to come from? The midfield will be Quinn, Meyler and whoever we sign. Quinn and Meyler are fine players, but neither are what I would call a ball-playing midfielder. Since Bullard we haven't had a proper creative midfield player. Cairney is the closest thing we have but I just can't see him getting the game time. Surely what we need is the next Bullard (and I'm talking about his talent of course, not anything he got up to off the pitch.)

Huddlestone would be ideal for me. He's a deep-lying player so he'd allow Meyler to do his box-to-box thing rather than having to sit back but he'd also offer us far more quality than anyone in our squad. Plus he can defend too.

I agree. It works for Swansea. They have Britton as an holding midfielder. He can't tackle but is good at spraying the ball about !

It's probably down to his injury record and dodgy knees.

Creativity will come from the wings, with Brady and Elmo as well as whoever plays as the second striker, be it Aluko, Sagbo or Boyd. To be honest as a team who is pretty much aiming first and foremost for 17th place creative players can often be seen as a luxury, with a need for being solid the first aim. If you look at our first season in the prem when we stayed up, we had Geo as pretty much our only truly creative midfield player, I think Bruce is getting the right balance and I have been incredibly impressed at the way he has gone about building the squad this summer, we're prob only 1 player away from what he wants with 3 weeks left til kick off, no stupid (financially speaking) signings made, no tolerance of players looking for stupid wages i.e. Hooper and a sensible approach to medical problems! Good work all round

Well said all round, plus an excellent synopsis of the Bullard " luxury" fiasco.

"Walk, don't run" should be the name of the game......http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAZP_gLNHSY

For those from the North...I can't find an original Shadows version on youtube & can't be arsed to find my vinyl copy

I agree, one perhaps two max will create the final link (s) to a well balanced squad with a strong team ethos. Great work on the transfers so far and lessons learnt for the past leaves us in great shape for a good season. Let others worry about silly fees and wages, we can finish this with minimum fuss. Well done to all at the club for the positive attitude to building a solid sustainable future for the Tigers.

I think we maybe need another striker as well as strengthening the midfield - but as already been said this transfer window still has a couple of weeks to go and we have already done most of our business. Things are looking good

We shouldn't be aiming for 17th, we should be aiming higher. We should be HAPPY to finish 17th. If you only aim that high, falling short means relegation, whereas falling short from 13th means a bit of breathing space.

I think on deadline day, we'll end up signing Gedo. It's a bit déja-vu-like with the Alex Bruce situation last Season with the, "He's just training with us, that's all". Especially if Brucey reckons we still need another striker.

I honestly think Brucey's going to go for Palacios, and I reckon we can get him.

I don't think SB will go for him because of his disruptive behaviour and poor discipline at the Macams.

I can understand your point there and some managers definitely think that way, but inevitably if we took that approach we'd score 4 goals in the first half of the season and be saying after a few weeks "We need a creative midfielder in January." I think every team needs someone who can dictate possession and pass the ball. You can only chase the ball so long before everyone gets tired. We need to make the ball do the work.
