Hopefully he can get back to that sort of thing rather than countless offsides and missed sitters.

    Hopefully so.
The problem is he plays so close to the line at times and is that quick off the mark, even when he is onside, the linesmen are forever giving him offside.
It must have 5 or 6 times last season that goals were disallowed that should have stood.

We better get used to the missed sitters, he's an instinctive first time finisher and when he has time to think about it he struggles.
But at least he never hides and he gets into the positions in the first place.

I have a feeling he's going to do well this season.

The reason Cisse has been criticised for his finishing quite a lot recently is because the guy is a master at positioning himself and and making chances for himself, but you can't expect him to take them every game.

Even if he was only scoring 1 of his 4-5 chances every game, it would be unrealistic.

If Cisse takes once chance ever two games or so he'll be a 15-18 goals a season striker, and that's good enough for me.

When he first came here he was awesome, but if we all expected him to continue that sort of form, we were all deluded.

Take a look at Filipo Inzaghi's game. He's the type of player as well. Offsides a ton, but he scores truckloads of goals too.

As for Cisse, I'm sure he was really unsettled at having to learn a new position last season, having to worry about being in the right position, after having played his whole life up front.

Add to that the ACoN and all sorts of other stuff that was happening and I'm sure he wasn't settled.

And we saw from the video the quality Cisse possesses and that was probably at his absolute form and peak where everything he touched turned into goals.

Also let's not forget his crucial injury time goals that made our Europa run possible.

I think he is a good player to have. He wasn't at his best last year, I'm sure he would admit as much. Not just in comparing him to his ridiculous start, or playing out of position etc. He just wasn't at his best full stop. No excuses, just underperformed. However he'll learn from it if he has anything about him, and I actually thought is all round game improved a little because of his time wide.

The problem is also when it is all sitting on one man's shoulders. We shouldn't be relying on one striker, its ridiculous at this level. Get another couple in and ease the burden. I still don't think we have that number 10 type either which would suit him best. He reminds me so much of Cole, and really needed a Beardo or Yorke to do the thinking.
