Maybe a left back can be seen as less urgent though, if Jack can be convinced to train there, he could be superb, excellent twice, to follow up the fact he's always been decent there.
Good stuff. Would have liked to win but it was a strong City team. Encouraging signs and look forward to seeing us play on a decent pitch!
Lets be honest, we got beat off a screamer. We have competed and that's all anyone's wants in comparison to last years shambles. I'm really looking forward to this season. A lot of positives to take from this tournament.
Colback was superb. My only issue is his lack of attacking ability there to help Giaccherini. Wouldn't be a disaster if he ended up there, but we need to seek an attacking lb though
I don't think we deserved to lose either, we didn't deserve to win either I guess it was a very even game, so only right that it was a top goal that won it. The lads look full of spirit and will to win, behind v Spurs, came back, behind v City and battled all the way. I'm desperate to see Giacc & Jozy on a dry pitch.
I can see that Seb is becoming the blame guy amongst the board. Whilst I would rather another player there Seb did well today. You could see how much we missed Cabral when he went off. All in all a good tournament. Really enjoyed watching it and seeing the new players. We play much better football. Whilst happy with Colback as fullback Gardner cannot start the season at right back.
Utter ****e that. No one has blamed him for anything. It's been stated he's a weak link by several and there's little denying that considering he's not in his natural position.
Good tournament and maybe a good thing to lose in the final, hopefully make the board understand we need to still strengthen and a good realisation to the players that we are going in the right direction but still have a lot of hard work to come.
i don't like Seb. Even the season when he scored 6/7 I still didn't like him back then. But do little and score goals I can live with that. Credit him for being put into an unfamiliar position and giving it a go but he's not good enough. he just skips around never quite getting into the action area's. He not a tackler, he's not a grafter, he's not an up and down the pitch player, he's not the defence splitting passer and he's not(last season anyway) scoring goals. We need a better option.
Think Seb was unquestionably the weakest player in the tournament for us, that's not me singling out Seb, it's pointing out the glaringly obvious.
i like seb, but not sure how he fits in with us now - not quick enough to play out wide, doesn't use the ball well enough or tackle well enough to play in the middle.
Seb in the CM area just doesn't work at all, I'll hold my hands up and say I thought he would be good in there sort of the Prlo role for Italy pinging passes about and making things happen. So do we play him wide or use him as cover for RW? Personally I'd keep him as cover he does have a bit more work rate about him in the last few games I've seen him play under PDC than the whole of last season, will he be happy playing a bit part role for us though with the World Cup looming? I don't think he will and for that reason alone he will move on.
apparently Seb has a cousin twice removed who spent the weekend in Newcastle..........Seb, **** off you Mag bastard....... Just to set the ball rolling for those who think Seb is the next whipping boy...... I find it so sad and typical of us Sunderland folk that we NEED to have somebody to blame, somebody who is not good enough, someone who is the weakest link. We must take a negative out of the positive. Its a team game, Seb fulfills a similar role to Whitehead, Cattermole, Gardener, Colback etc......................its unfashionable - unless you score you will not win any man of the match trophies or plaudits. I'm sorry for the rant, perhaps I just see the game in a different way to some on here -its just boiling my piss that we are about to start a season and a player is already being lined up on the alter to be the next 606 sacrifice.
i think that role has and still can be fulfilled by, Cabral, N'Diaye, Cattermole, Colback and Gardener. Some I like more than others. I see no need for it to be filled by Larsson. Obviously MoN and PDC know a lot more then I do and if they see him as a player to be in that position then so be it. Like I said, without his goals (imho) he offers very little. Nothing to do with whipping boys. I don't like Colback in CM but he deserves all the praise thae way he has gone abouth the LB position. We all like some players over others in one position or another. Do we say what we feel or do we all praise everyone no matter how they perform?
Dont dislike larsson, just think its a position we need to strengthen, if we had a natural rb i would dare say gardner would have played there today and weds, once the signings are complete i see him as surplus to requirements as debated the other day, larsson isnt and never will be an outstanding cm, we need one
I think this is grossly unfair. I always defend the scapegoat, indeed Kenwyne & Kieron were 2 players I vocally backed throughout, every comment re Seb has been factual, constructive, and certainly not abusive. He simply doesn't do enough, and is too good to be a sub.
never going to be a game changer in the team or from the bench, but this club cannot be caught short with a small squad as it nearly got us relegated
