Early days yet but whether it's a good season or not there are always two awards at the end, the player's player of the season and the fans one. Just for fun but actually based on hunches, who can you imagine getting those awards? I guess it's advisable to only pick a player who really seems to be staying!! I don't know why but I have this feeling that we're going to love Onuoha this year and he's going to become a true fan favourite. He's got a great character, in my opinion, and is starting to shine as a CB, although it's early days yet. So I'm going to pick him for the fan's player of the year. I think the player's player of the year is going to be someone who scores, i.e. a forward player and not a defensive player. But I'm actually left wondering who will score much this season! I could imagine it being Remy if he stays but I'm not so sure he will and I'm quite sure he won't stay for a full season. Sadly, I don't think Hoilett is going to change much (hope I'm wrong). ****, who is left? Maybe Andy Johnson, if he stays fit? Or possibly, if he has a great season, maybe due to him being popular in the squad and playing well, Faurlin might get it. What do you recon? For the serious Sams amongst us, it's just for fun!
You might be right about Onuoha although my money is on Faurlin - I'm a big fan of his composure and passing. Also, buoyed by Judo's friendly match report (the few positives from an uninspiring display) I reckon Granero could do a fantastic job if he stays - those two have given, albeit briefly, some of the best one-touch passing I've seen from us and I just crave more.
I wouldn't care to hazard a guess at this stage. It is 5 weeks till the transfer window closes and I feel there will be a few more in's and out's. It's possible the POTY hasn't even arrived at the club yet.
I think Steve McLaren will play an important role with the club and will be looking for the MoM award each game with Joe Jordon getting a 'worthy mention in dispatches'. Harry may not play a big role this year. Being injured to start the campaign will limit his time to the subs bench and then you have the Monthly Medal at his local golf club will keep him away for long periods and what happens if the Range Rover gets bogged down with journalists surrounding his every move .............. things could get a bit nasty. Who knows .......... some of the players may even get a start.
I wouldn't be surprised if Yun Suk Young has a season to remember, he looks a decent player, one of our few sensible signings last year...
I would love it to be Taarabt but think little SWP may come into his own if a team is built ... we certainly have grit in the side and I pray that's a platform for one or two to shine ... it is in fact the theory behind all good footballing sides ... the stars will take the headlines. You don't build a side around Taarabt ... you build a strong platform so he can play his game and his game is wonderful .... the reason i truly believe he will shine in a solid team anywhere in the world
The realistic brigade. It's like asking who's going to win the Derby next year when you only know half the field.
Spot on mate. One of my close mates is from wolves and we spent the day going through some wolves Videos of the last couple of seasons. Seems he's not the clogger he was made out to be. Can lead players and may just drag the rest of our ****e to safety this year. I think he may surprise a few..ala..Derry, Mackie, ali, Adel, etc..
DT..that is the best thing you have posted in a long time Hats off to you sir Further to that, I'd consider that a worthy signature for this forum and even motto...!
