Blackburn Rovers: DJ Campbell faces two-month absence Blackburn Rovers striker DJ Campbell faces up to two months out after damaging ankle ligaments in Tuesday's 1-1 friendly draw with Preston. The 31-year-old, who played seven games on loan last season, made a permanent move to Ewood Park this summer after his contract expired at QPR. He scored in the friendly before he was withdrawn as a precaution. "He's out for a couple of months rather than weeks, he's in rehabilitation," Bowyer told BBC Radio Lancashire. He added: "We'll be governed and guided by the medical team but it's not going to be the couple of weeks we had hoped for. "It's disappointing for DJ after last season, he's looked fantastic and looked really sharp." Campbell's loan stay was cut short by a broken toe last term, but agreed a two-year deal with Rovers. Meanwhile, Bowyer also confirmed the club has withdrawn interest in Liverpool midfielder Jay Spearing. "We put a bid in, we had it accepted and couldn't agree with the player so we've moved onto other targets," he added. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23471487
It's very sad to see DJ suffer this injury. I personally think he would've offered us something in this league.
Hmm... well, of course, it may not have happened if he stayed here. Injuries are usually just bad lack, in the wrong place at the wrong time. But I'm so sick of injuries over the last few seasons. I swear if someone added it all up we'd see stats showing that we've had the worst luck with injuries in whatever league we've been in.
Stupid title for a post. Should never be happy that a player is injured. Especially one that wanted to stay.....
I very much doubt it's marvelling in others' misfortune rather than making good of our current plight. I'd have loved him to stick around as he has some quality (especially at this level) but we may have dodged a bullet on the injury...
I accept that Newbury. My apologies, and as Matt has stated above ( And Matt's subsequent comments ) I would never marvel in another's misfortune. It was a generic title that I deemed fit to post without any consideration for the way it was intended. I shall duly change it if it has caused such offence. For anyone that knows me they will realise that I would never seek such a sensationalist or crass way to draw attention to one of my post's.
Agree totally. I've said it before.... in my opinion QPR999 is the best contributor on this board by a country mile. Lovely fellow too; I'm still trying to work out how he juggles the demands of moderator on this board, holding a job down (stamping out fires in both pursuits! ] and balancing it all with his delightful wife and kids.
Always bad for a player who is moving towards the twilight years of his career. Hopefully things turn around for him and he can manage a few more productive years (but never against us)
Where does the OP or title say he's happy about DJs injury ? I think its YOU that are coming over as stupid . Nines is one of the best posters on this board and that's the last thing he would do. Next time can I suggest you 'engage brain before opening mouth'
Agree with this, DJ spent most of his time with us injured and to be honest I think he has dined off of one good season with Blackpool in the PL for a long time now. I have nothing against him (he's an R afterall) but he was never going to be our saviour. Our last three managers have not fancied DJ much so that really should tell us something.
We've had plenty of whining about AJs injury record, Zamora playing on with his mobility cart at the side of the pitch etc etc, perhaps justifiably, but DJ has been crocked for most of the last 2 seasons yet people seem to think he would have been our Messiah with a dirty neck, because he was a 'fan'. Baffling. Bad luck for him and hope he does well, but I am haunted by the memory of a player so far out of his depth at Arsenal in 2011 that my overriding emotion was pity.
