Any thoughs on how the Irish lads will perform. I think they'll all give a good account of themselves, perhaps Stephen Quinn as the stand out performer. All views are valid Opinions on a postcard...
If Robbie Brady keeps progressing as he has in the last 12 months he could be the pick of the Irish Lads? Be interesting to see what role he plays in?
Cheers for the last post as a Welwyn Park lad and former Sutton resident its great to be on the same wavelength
Have a few friends from Dublin that I will be renewing aquaintances with next week in Spain although they're not the biggest fans of Macca - maybe after last seasons exploits I'll get them to change their views..
Thanks Irish but I think they're probably in Spain as we speak - they usually there for the whole of August.. they are Hull City converts though - well second to Manure or Liverpool...
This is only my opinion but I think Quinn will struggle, he will be quickly found out that he only has a left foot and turns in circles for a pass rather than using his right foot. A little bit like Cairney was, but it looks like he's been working on that part of his game, hopefully Quinn has too
Kinda funny how much we love and are proud of our Irish guys, yet some on here now have beef with the plastic paddys. I hope they all do well this season ofc, but Brady especially, we'll see if we've got a real diamond there I think.
No beef but a lot is made of the Irish and Egyptian contingents, we also have a strong Northern Ireland and Scottish contingent. Evans full international and Dudgeon will also gain his first NI cap this year. Of McGregor, Boyd and Cairney, Boyd will do well and we'll see Tom Cairney gain his first full Scottish cap and of course James Chester will play for England.
Quinn was awful for the back end of the season. He'll struggle in the PL, as will Macca. Myler will fair a bit better. Brady is the one to watch, I think he'll kick on and look very much at home in the top flight. IMO.
I think Brady has the potential to be a real hit in the Premier League, he has come on leaps and bounds since Pearson brought him here on his first initial loan spell. Quinn is a little tricky twat, I think he'd love it in the Premier League. Give him time on the ball and he could deliver and create many chances. Some of his crosses (e.g. Cardiff) have been sublime. McShane has improved but I'm still sceptical about his ability in the top flight. He's a great Season in the Championship and fully deserves a 2nd crack at the Premier League with us as a reward, but I'm sure he's just a Championship player. Meyler has developed with a Premier League side and should have a keen idea on the style of play and it's little tricks. I think he'll fare very well in the squad.
I agree with you on the other three but Quinn is criminally under-rated. He's one of our best players and he'll be very important again this season.
Quinn. Got a good touch and a ****ing great engine. Just what we need in the prem. We'll be chasing the ball a lot. He's a workhorse. Meyler will be ok but gotto sharpen up, too casual with his passes. His diving will fit right into the prem tho. Brady, can be a massive star. Just dont over elaborate. Mcshane. He may have matured, massive heart spirit etc. But he'll be like a bull with a matador. Gets fixated and loses his head.
A Sunderland supporting mate of mine reckons Meyler will do very well in the Prem apparently preformed well for them when he got a few games prior to injury and is still surprised we got him so cheap
