First time poster here to plug my article (sorry). It's been a nightmare day for QPR, but by some stroke of luck I was writing an article for an internship that may cheer R's fans up! Please have a read and give your opinions! Couldn't fit in everything I wanted to. http://www.ftbpro.com/posts/harry.williams/291336/qpr-s-10-most-important-matches-this-century
I think the day/s when we won the Championship in 2011 were pretty important. We mathematically won it away at Watford but it wasn't confirmed till just before the Leeds game when we were also presented with the trophy. I think that was a pretty important day in our recent history. For me personally, it was the first trophy I had ever seen us lift in 38 years supporting the club and I stood there in tears. I didn't actually see us lift the old Division 2 title in 1983. After 2 Wembley defeats in cup finals and a play off final defeat, it was great to finally see us win something. I know we won promotion at Hillsborough in 2003 and what a great day that was etc. but, this time we had achieved promotion by coming first, not second and it felt even more special.
I believe your question relates to the 21st century, but for the 20th century, this moment for me. please log in to view this image Also....not so memorable as 1967. please log in to view this image
Cheers! I see your point with the day of the Leeds game, but the match itself was an afterthought after all that had happened. It was difficult with that season, because we strolled the league, so there was no real 'do or die' moments. I was also tempted with the Leicester and Cardiff (home) games from that season, but I thought of all of them, Derby was the key moment, as it made us feel invincible. When comparing promotions I always look back on the Championship one with some regret, after what has since happened, but not the League 1 one, as that is yet to come round full circle. I was also tempted to put the game in the 2002-03 season where we stopped being the wetwipes who lost to Vauxhall Motors and started being the force that surged into the play-offs, but couldn't pinpoint a game. Hope this clears a few things up! Glad you don't agree though, plenty of matches to choose from. Imagine doing one on Fulham!
"This century"? QPR 1882! Seriously, a good read, but the semi in1982 was our pinnacle. Clive Allen's knee will live with me until my death bed. Find the goal on Youtube and see a long haired 15 year old waving a scarf and beating the high jump world record by a clear metre ( to the right of the goal). I would find it for you, but I can't be bothered, good night. Welcome to the board, by the way.
These programs hang proudly on a wall at home! ( as well as the reply one, my first QPR game (at Wham), my first QPR home game, the debacle in 1986 and my first Norrköping game).
