It is an image that will last in all of our memories forever. Jamie Mackie, after another lung busting burst through the heart of the Manchester City defence, soaring through the air to meet Armand Traore’s pin point cross and burying his header past Joe Hart to give Q.P.R., depleted by Joey Barton’s mindless dismissal, an incredibly unlikely lead over the champions elect. Although City struck back with two desperately late strikes, I believe that news of Mackie’s goal broke Bolton’s resolve and condemned them to relegation in our place. The goal was typical of the man; it wasn’t the cleanest of headers but his determination ensured that he was there to make it. And what about his last gasp winner against Liverpool as he slipped the ball under a diving Reina. Pure Magic.

Spot on Roller..Great article and I doubt a single poster on here could disagree with any of that. The exact type of player we needed this season!!
Sad loss to the club but he has gone now and i remember the comments on here where most used to rubbish him.
Hate watching those videos now. As I said yesterday, I havent been this gutted to lose a player for a while. One of the core of the side that got us up, and who the fans relate to.
Good read Roller, and I'm absolutely gutted. I feel like the club is losing it's very soul somehow. Hopefully I'll be proved wrong, but I don't think it's possible that I could be any less optimistic about next season. Grim times IMHO.
Another well written piece, cheers Roller. I have some fond memories of Mackie wearing the hoops. There are many Rs on here and elsewhere lamenting his departure and rightly so. He's effort, dedication and honesty gave us a sense of stability within our club, whereas in comparison to some of our other players it was found to be lacking. Where Mackie came up short in the technique department he certainly made up for it with his determination. I posted a thread on here three months ago saying that Jamie wasn't happy and wanted away....... http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/205321-Jamie-Mackie-isn-t-Happy It now seems that what I wrote then was correct. It's a shame really because he would have been a good player for us in the championship. He was the right sort, a player who would give his all whilst wearing the shirt. But alas he has now moved on and so must we. Such is the reality of the flippancy and fickleness of football. We'll have new players to focus on shortly.
What he lacked in class he made up for in effort and nuisance-value, few defenders enjoyed playing against him. He'll always get a welcome back at HQ from me...
It certainly fits with my assumptions mate. It is a shame that it always seems to come down to money, even with the Jamie Mackie's of the footballing world. OK it is a short career, but I could set myself up nicely on life on a meager £14k a week.
Don't miss him, honestly. He was average and did not perform well when he got the chance to perform. We need a completly new set up without Taarabts and so on. My opinion.
I always thought Jamie's attitude was spot on, not the most gifted of players but gives everything so a lot of pros could learn from him. Certainly thought should keep for the Championship so disappointed to see go but wish him all the best.
Don't watch this Cia...... http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/photos-and-videos/videos/mackie-looks-to-future.html
