If we can get Peruzzi at FB and a decent LB (we're after Cissokho, but that looks a bit ambitious) then we'll be fine. Another winger coming in Mavrias, apparently, not that I know owt about him. One more creative midfielder after that and we should be looking good. Giaccherini looks a top signing and if we can get him on board, that has to influence other players to come.

As for the derbies, you could field eleven Shola's and they would still be tight games :)

We certainly don't help ourselves off the field. I have to say though, aside from our attacking options I'm pretty confident we have a good squad. I think we are not too bad at the back and central midfield, a little light in the wide areas and obviously very weak up top. It would be nice to have the whole package though with off the field events, and I don't think its too much to ask as a supporter. But to be honest I stopped giving a **** quite some time ago as I can't see it ever changing under Ashley. It is what it is.

yeh, it's the galvanization Giaccherini can provide all-round. I look at our purchase of Ben Arfa the same way, think it definitely opened the gateway for the likes of Cabaye.
As for the 11 Shola's, think you might have stumbled upon Mike's latest money-saving plan

I'm loving the mackem suicide. As usual before a ball has been kicked, many of them are getting stuck into our side, predicting relegation whilst thinking all is just going to be rosy straight from the off with their new squad, manager, set up, style of play etc etc. My mackem mate (forgive him his sins), is convinced Europe is on for them. When I suggested it may take time to bed in, he said "Bollocks you're just jealous because you've signed no one. We're so far ahead of you now and have added world class players" <laugh> Mind you he is the most bi polar person I know. Before every season he believes 100% it will be their year, by Xmas, everyone at the club is a ****.

He also claimed Peruzzi (who they are yet to even sign) is 1st choice right back for Argentina. When I pointed out Zabeleta probably disagreed, he simply responded "he's better than him". He has seen a few Youtube clips <laugh> Mind the delusion has hit the facist PDC who claimed Alitdore is one of the best strikers in Europe no less. I can only think of about 20 better off the top of my head. There is bigging up your players, and then there is looking like a complete bell top.

I don't think many Sunderland fans are predicting a Noocarsle relegation season and while most I talk to are excited and optimistic about PDC and the new signings it doesn't necessarily mean we're convinced it will continue to feel as good as it's feeling right now. I don't think your major problems are with the players... but that's obvious. For me the question hanging over your season is can Pardew find a plan 'B' and if so will JFK let him use it? Between the volatility of PDC and the internecine shenanigans in your club I reckon the 13/14 season could be a wild ride for both sets of fans. Anyone predicting anything more than that is just plum loco.

Unfortunately your rather sensible comments are not really echoed by your fellow fans.

Depends where you're sitting - our forum used to be absolutely overrun with your lot when things were going well for you; true they've all vanished now and we're only left with the (mainly) sensible posters and a couple of die-hard WUMs. It's a fact of life when a set of fans are feeling positive their hubris shows. Makem/Mag, same beast different colours. Your lot just manage to attract publicity because your more extreme muppets can be easily found around the ground for no apparent reason. I think it could be that SJP is very close to the city centre and they gravitate there between seeking scran in Greggs and trying to work out how the buttons on the back of their necks work.

We will be relegated. No question about it. Those last three defeats at home were no fluke, and we're even weaker now.

Really? I think you were mainly overrun with our fans when we were in the fizzy pop, that's when the Newcastle forum was at its peak. Hardly really going well at the time. Indeed most of the wumming and banter centred around who was in the best shape. Its just rivals nature, you'll get some who banter, some who WUM and some who are just cordial. The numbers of each simply expanded and contracted with the number of posters. Nothing to do with doing well or otherwise, particuarly bearing in mind we've had one season where you could say we were going well in the last 8 seasons or so <whistle>

We do attract publicity. Sometimes it is negative. To suggest its because we have some readily available benefit frauds is a little wide of the mark though. Its because we are seen as the premier club in the region, Newcastle is viewed as the capital of the region. Not just in sporting terms because we've enjoyed more relative success than our various neighbours, but business/economically etc. Just the way it is and naturally that draws the attention of the media, local and national. Add in a recluse businessman who gives the media little on the personal front but plenty in business circles, you have party.

To be honest I welcome you lads from up the road, we only really hear from most at the start of each season when we're told "its gonna be our year". To be fair I think you're in better shape than you have been in a long while, just maybe not the world beating shape some of your lot seem to think. But a mass overhaul and a batch of new signings will do that to most supporters. Why not, its a miserable life if you can't enjoy a bit of a change after a poor season!
