@Capt_Fishpaste: Rough Olé trans: Peruzzi began the rehabilitation on his knee advised by Sunderland, with the expectation that his move will be re-launched.

@Capt_Fishpaste: Will take 'almost two months'. Wonder if Sunderland will revisit it late in the window.

@Capt_Fishpaste: As I said yesterday, was told Sunderland still wanted Peruzzi. Simply a case of protecting themselves with his injury in mind. Seems to fit.

It would seem that this is still a goer!

    It's still alive...just :undecided:

"Gino Peruzzi, back in the fort for now, began the rehabilitation plan provided by Sunderland for his knee, with the expectation that his transfer was refloating. For the defender this will last almost two months.
Sunderland were clear. For the transfer to go ahead he should carry out a training plan to recover from the scar tissue left from an injury to one of his knees. Therefore, the defender wasted no time and had some physiotherapy on Thursday at the Olympic Village. Anyway, the rehabilitation will require nearly two months ..."

I'll accept it if we don't sign him but I hope the club knows what it's doing. I'll be well pissed off if in 3 years time he moves to barca for £20m.

ALFRED N’Diaye won’t be the last departure from the Stadium of Light this summer.

The midfielder yesterday sealed a loan switch to Turkish club Eskiehirspor.

Phil Bardsley, who again represented Sunderland Under-21s in a pre-season friendly with Spennymoor on Saturday, remains out of the frame under Paolo Di Canio.

Fulham continues to be Bardsley’s likeliest destination, although the full-back was linked with a move to Newcastle United over the weekend.

Lee Cattermole will also be sold, if Sunderland can find a buyer willing to match the midfielder’s wages.

As reported in the Gazette last week, Di Canio has refused to confirm whether Cattermole has a future at the club, with the skipper building up his fitness with the U21s at the Academy of Light while Sunderland have been in Hong Kong.

But with Cattermole now fully fit, Di Canio must deciede whether to allow the midfielder to train with the first-team, with Fulham reportedly interested in the 25-year-old.

There are also suggestions that Celtic are keen to sign left-winger James McClean. The Bhoys have just lost striker Gary Hooper to Norwich, and manager Neil Lennon is looking to freshen up his squad.

With Sunderland’s medical team and chief executive Margaret Byrne now back in England after the Barclays Asia Trophy, the club also hope to make progress with incomings.

Greek winger Charas Mavrias’ protracted move to the Stadium of Light has become something of a saga, weeks after Sunderland agreed a deal with Panathinaikos that will see the Black Cats pay an initial £1.5m for the 19-year-old.

Sources in Greece suggest Mavrias is now expected to travel to Wearside on Thursday to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical.

But Sunderland’s principal focus is on full-backs after the collapse of their move for Argentine right-back Gino Peruzzi. The Black Cats are reported to have given Peruzzi’s club, Velez Sarsfeld, a rehabilitation programme to cure the knee problem which caused the 22-year-old to fail his medical.

But the Gazette understands that Peruzzi’s injury is so serious that there is next-to-no chance of the deal being resurrected imminently.

Sunderland were also linked with Mexican left-back Jorge Torres Nilo over the weekend, with the 25-year-old given a £5m price tag by club Tigres de la UANL.

N’Diaye, meanwhile, missed Sunderland’s pre-season trip to Hong Kong after his partner gave birth on the eve of the Black Cats heading out to the Far East. But the 23-year-old has agreed to a season-long switch to Turkey – just six months after leaving the country to move to the Premier League.

N’Diaye started 15 out of 17 top flight games following his £3.7million January move from Bursaspor, but Paolo Di Canio has been willing to dispense with the Frenchman’s services, as he looks to add a playmaker to his central midfield options.

A clause of around £5m has been built into N’Diaye’s deal to convert it into a permanent switch, as is standard with loans between different countries.

But it is thought that the negotiations over a permanent departure have not been extensive, with Sunderland simply happy to let N’Diaye leave on loan.

N’Diaye’s exit represents the third of Martin O’Neill’s three January signings that Di Canio has dispensed with.

Sunderland made no attempt to sign Kader Mangane permanently after the end of his loan from Middle Eastern side Al-Hilal, while Danny Graham has joined Hull on a season-long loan.
