Bothroyd scores goals when everything is happening for him, he doesn't have the ability to make it happen for himself so we're well rid IMO & it's time to let it go!
I presume that's a response to my post. No, I've said all along that I felt Bothroyd would do the business in the Championship regardless of any transfer rumours.
I would say that's true of most strikers. There aren't too many who make goals for themselves from nothing, especially in the Championship. And considering what we're left with, plus the possible departure of Mackie, I think it's a valid point.
Disagree, there's plenty of strikers that make space for them selfs, make great runs or take on centre halfs, Bothroyd did none of the above for us or Wednesday for that matter.
Fair enough - but he played for us in the PL not the Championship; and he obviously didn't want to be at SW. But if you look at the type of player Bothroyd is, he's more of a partner player for a quicker, pacier striker - his partnership with Bellamy being a prime example. He's not the type of player to run in behind but he does know how to disrupt the shape of the back-four: remember his goal against us at Cardiff in the promotion season? Anyway, your point doesn't change the reality that the Championship is his level and he scores goals there.
Bothroyd had 1 really good season in the Championship & has been dining out off it since. DJ on the other hand will score goals, Harry was way to quick to shift him on IMO.
True. A Championship club can't really compete with the appeal of PL football. Can't help thinking we're a little unprepared for the appraoching season but nevermind - just looking forward to it starting again.
He had a good season last year in the Championship. So should be aware of what needs to be done. Can he do it in a hooped shirt???
Fair enough. I thought he looked ok for a brief spell last season but was a disappointment the season before
After buying Jimmy Bullard for £5m with a dodgy knee and him eventually costing us £200k a game, I think we're a bit weary of suspect knees, Ian Ashby had a similar knee problem and missed a full season, so though Austins a gamble, he's a proven goal scorer at this level
Does anyone actually have any decent information/rumours on what's happening with Austin? I've got no idea and don't really want the club to buy any more injury prone players, if that's what he is.
145 goals in 292 games not that bad http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-table-bid-for-burnley-striker-austin
Yes, he's quite the marksman, a fox in the box - goal every 2 games. Heidar Helguson career total - 126 goals in 413 games (at QPR 28 goals in 80 games) - goal every 3 games.
