The top clubs generally play the more attractive footballer. Fans of the 'lesser' clubs will tend to watch the top teams whereas the fans of the top teams will be less likely to watch the 'lesser' 'uglier' teams. Factor that in to the glory supporter element.
Don't know about that! Theres been some right ugly bastards playing for the Manchester clubs over the years!!!
Evidently I'm the plum according to this nugget. The fact is, right now is what I'm talking about and you just confirmed my point. You can't expect to make no waves as a team and share an equal proportion of the limelight considering how major corporations go about their marketing. It applies to every industry, and I absolutely agree that if you delivered success consistently you'd start seeing more attention given to your team. People act as if United have stumbled across all these trophies by luck, we went 26 years without winning the first division title, we earned the first PL one and Sky came along at the same time, we got on that crest of the wave and we built an empire by winning things, with shrewd management and brilliant players. Hardly any of this was there prior to that first season. We were 1 Billion GBP in debt more or less and we have a fanbase and a winning formula that has paid those bills for us, we have consistently been the best and people pay to see the best. Nobody wants to see John Wetfart run 100m in 36 seconds do they? No. It's Bolt, they all want to see him break records, so sponsors throw all their money at them because they know the world wants to watch him. Same with any big football team, look at Bayern, their season tickets cost about £35 because they know that their bills will be paid by the corporations who sell to the mass consumer market. I don't necessarily agree with it, I'd love for it to be all "On Demand" where you can just watch the sports that interests you, I'm sure it will go that way eventually, but for now whilst we're all tuning in to the same stuff, the majority vote wins every time. I could go around Sunderland pal, but I'll tell you now there's 2.7m people living in Greater Manchester vs 177,000 in Sunderland. Relativity has nothing to do with this, this is numbers. Sky know exactly how many people watch each match and where from viewing figures, it's analysis in the most basic form. Like I say, there's nowt we can do about Harry Redknapp's stupid face popping up on our screen every 30 seconds but some things can be explained with facts, it's just people like you might need it said twice.
But this is just blatant favouritism from the BBC - Is boris a Spurs fan? please log in to view this image http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-23448832
the higher you go the further it is to fall, the top so called clubs will always be so and always will be, why worry ,if it was not for the rest of the clubs they would also be the bottom clubs as well, every club needs every other club ,other wise it would be negativity, you cannot lose what you have not got.
Playing two matches on the same pitch on the same day is a bit daft though, Jan vertonghen's injury came as he came down on his leg, like Stephen fletcher so can you blame the pitch?.
This. Also terry hardacre dont mean to split hairs mate but around 275k ppl in sunderland but even so compared to the population in manchester it shows how good our attendances are especially compared to man city's.
In fact as a percentage of population v average attendances we are the number 1 supported club in the country
Well said Martin Tyler https://soundcloud.com/siriusxmsports/martin-tyler-sky-sports-on-the I want dirty knees too
You're still arguing a point that nobody is disagreeing with. This article is called Anti-Safc-media not Pro-Man u and other top 5 teams-Media.
I don`t care. If that`s the way it is so be it. Bollox to them. SAFC is the only club I care about. The rest (and the so called pundits/experts) can go screw themselves. I`m looking forward to next season. At least we`re giving it a bloody good go. Now I`m going to have some of these.
Lol. Understood mate! I'm on your side by the way, you don't deserve negative press because you aren't from London or Manchester. I'm sure there'll be a few stories this season from PDC's direction anyway, I can't wait for his post match press conference when u have a decent goal chalked off for offside!
All we have to do this season is a bloody good showing in the league or win a cup and they will be all over us like a rash. We were utter sh*te last year until the Newcastle & Everton games. We are either gonna have a fab season or a sh*t season imo depending on how the players adapt to the EPL. Play well and the media will change. Mainly cos they are brown nosing, arse licking, c*ck sucking w*nkers.
Ha ha, I know you are fella, like I said in my first post to you, you're all right. Paolo's interviews are going to be quality mate, not just him though, we're gonna have Joking Ear, Jose and my personal favorite for interviews, Ian Holloway all amusing me this season. Lot of personalities bouncing around this season, it's going to be season of the Quote. I can't wait!
I've just done a round trip to London on the grand central, read the times (courtesy paper) and the evening standard coming back, all they talked about was the weather and vertongens injury, don't think the times even stated the result, neither reported the game nor goal scorers, class. Not
