He's been banned from his computer, one would assume, by his mum (Tigress on this board). Go check the thread on the Leicester board, it's much more informative on his disappearance.
Bottom, but I wont really be too concerned as I've put my expectations on hold for this season as I hope most of my fellow Hull Tigers fans have (along with the Allams) and in the process insulating Steve Bruce from any trigger happy sackings.
Mr Erik, I respect that you have an opinion but I totally disagree with your negative opinions on this and other posts I've seen from you and here is why. This time around we have built a solid team ethos, there is no i in TEAM, look at the Rooney saga, we do not want big egos on fat wages or costly transfer fees. I cannot predict the future nor do I have a monopoly on wisdom but I do know that all organisations football or otherwise thrive better putting team ethos first. Yes there will be mistakes and difficulties along the way but I believe that what we are continuing to do should see us finish around the 13-16 mark. Highly respectable and a solid platform for a few years in the top flight. Sounds to me like you think we should do what we did last time and nearly say goodbye to the club we all love. Now none of us want that do we.
Not with that squad they wont. Alot of money spent on unproven players. Massive gamble and risk. Very true. Norwich start @ home to Everton and that will be an interesting game to watch. As i said, your fecking clueless. In the championship 2014/15 they shall be. I am with you on that. Maybe higher if we can score some goals.
I've already said that you have more chance of staying in the Premier League by signing two or three quality players for £5m each than six or seven for £1-2m What we did last time was massively overspend on players with no sell-on value, like Seyi Olofinjana (£3m for a 29-year-old deemed not good enough for Stoke) and Peter Halmosi (a decent player in the Championship but 28/29 when he signed and so hardly worth £2.5m). Bullard is the most famous example, but fully fit he was well worth the £5m. He lifted the rest of the team, drove us forward, helped us keep possession and created chances for us. That is exactly what we need and should be investing in. The mistake was that he was injured when we signed him. I am not advising us to spend anything on players who fail medicals, and I have given credit already for our decision to call off the Austin deal when it was discovered he had an injury that could potentially worsen/reoccur The best part about this post is that you're too stupid to see why it's funny So you realise we are completely incapable of scoring, yet still think we will finish 15th with our squad as it is? You're completely ****ing ******ed.
Interesting, a double Masters and ******ed, thats novel. A Tigers fan since the late 60s I think I know a bit about football, life and oh how to think criticaly. Sounds like you are the I missing in team that fosters negative beliefs which no one wants. That is why so many people have a doom and gloom outlook. I remember sitting above the well at Boothferry with my grandfather and an elderly man constantly giving abuse during the game but soon shut up when a number of people turned on him.
Many moons ago I remember watching Keith Edwards play for Hull City. He was a lazy bastard, he was a greedy bastard and he might as well have not been on the pitch except that he almost always scored. I know regular goal scorers are as rare as hen's teeth (and every club wants one) but that type of player has been the missing piece for us for too long. It's not just the goals they score, it's the caution they cause in the opposition. If we don't have a goal threat this season top teams will attack us 'at will' for 90 minutes and that's too much pressure for even the best defence. I hope one or more of our forwards find a more prolific side to their game this season or Steve digs up a diamond in outer *****lia or anywhere else.
I think we need more firepower up front - the rest of the squad is ok. Scoring goals looks likely to be our Achilles heel again.
Our problem is the fixture list and the 'must win' game already touted vs Norwich. I know we all play the same teams home and away, but with those tough opening away games might see us with 0 points after 3 games and then the media start to talk about Derbys points tally etc.... I hope Bruce is bold with his selection and looks to put a team out based on our merits rather than looking too much on the opposition. It's a clique, but if we get a couple of decent results early on then we might just scrape 17th. 36-39 points needs to be the aim based on recent seasons. That's 9/10 wins and 9/10 draws. It's a tough ask to get something out of every other game
17th is the aim and I'd be delighted with that. I'm happy with our defence and midfield but we need more in attack. We'll get it before the season starts but it's impossible to predict how we'll do until we have some idea what that attack is going to look like.
We do need to address the goalscoring problem, it's been an issue since the season before last. We should be pushing the boat out for that extra bit of quality. We've been shrewd everywhere else on the pitch, but if we have to spend £4m plus on a recognised goalscorer then I'd be fully behind that decision. Unfortunately, players that score that many goals tend to cost well in excess of what we can afford. So we're just having to make do with what we can get.
