Being a guy who plays the odds, I've been doing a lot of form studying this summer, and have to say that it looks like the bookies have got it just about right.

We have a decent manager, whose doing some good stuff behind the scenes at Thorp Arch. It looks like he may get our sadsack players organised, and his additions may turn out to be great. However it looks like he's going to be stuck with players that nobody else wants, which means he can't bring in the extra couple of players he needs. Although I feel he'll do a better job than the last bloke last season.

Bookies have us finishing 10th or 11th which is better than last term, but has us behind the likes of Reading, QPR, Bolton, Forest, Watford, Wigan, Leicester, Brighton and Blackburn.

I believe we can be ahead of Blackburn, Watford, Brighton but see the rest too strong for us. Even Bolton have brought in top players who can do damage, the others have all brought in players and got rid of loads. We've got rid of hardly any when looking at the size of the squad and brought in only 3.

Now it looks like QPR have bought Hooper from Celtic, which makes yet another decent striker in this division. Wish we had someone who could bang in 20+ each season .... Oh we did but we flogged them

    Fingers crossed

All good points Doc. I think we could see a serious shift in our odds over the next month depending on transfer activity. If red bull invest and say mcd was to sign another couple of 1m standard players, centre half and winger, we might be able to aim for top six. If however, there are no more additions and Byram heads off, well be conceivably worse than last season and that would suggest bottom six finish
