They have done this a couple of times already this summer mate.

I reckon he will stay or go to Man Utd, if anywhere.

    You might be right mate:-
Reports in the Spanish press claim that Gareth Bale has agreed a six-year deal with Real Madrid - despite Tottenham steadfastly insisting their winger is not for sale at any price.

Sports daily Marca, which is well known for its close allegiance to Real, also claims that Bale will be paid 10m Euros a season and has already told Spurs he wants to leave.

However, this is in stark contrast to Andre Villas-Boas' stance - the Tottenham manager re-iterating the club's position as recently as Tuesday morning.

Speaking at a press conference in Hong Kong ahead of the Asia Trophy, Villas-Boas said: "On Gareth, I want to repeat what I was telling you last season and what I was telling you from the beginning of [pre-season] so I cannot extend myself.

"He is a player that we are willing to continue to have, he's a Tottenham player, he's one of the most fantastic players in the world at the moment and we are counting on him for the future."

Bale has never given any indication that he wants to leave White Hart Lane and, speaking two weeks ago following a pre-season friendly, the Welshman spoke of his desire to push Tottenham towards Champions League qualification.

"I think everyone at the club wants us to finish in the top four, the club wants to be in the top four, and we need to go one better this season and finish in the top four," he said.

Wow, well that will make him want to stay at Spurs, aiming for top 4. What are Spurs anyway the Arsenal wannabe team or something? I'd have a lot more respect for AVB if he come out and said "We need Bale, because whether you or anyone else thinks it's realistic, I think this year is a good year to try and have a crack at the league title". Nope, top 4. The same trophy that Arsenal have won about 8 times since they won an actual piece of silver. If I'm Gareth Bale, I don't want to just play in the Champions League, I want to win it and I know I'm good enough to walk into any team capable of winning it.

Terry, Fabregas and Thiago, your two top targets it would seem, not wanting to join you. Do you think it's down to Moyes being unproven at this level and players aren't fully confident in him?

He'd be perfect for Real Madrid's counterattacking style. It is a hell of a lot of money though.

I've pretty much avoided everything to do with this transfer saga other than this thread, so you may be referring to another quote, but AVB never says they are aiming for top 4 in the quote posted here, it was Bale who said he wants to push spurs into the CL spots.

Apparently he's always wanted to play for Real Madrid
    http://www.marca.com/2013/07/23/en/football/real_madrid/1374561714.html

Real Madrid has already put in a lot of ground work. Firstly, finding out from the player's agent, Jonathan Barnett, what the player's wishes were. The key meeting took place in Madrid on 25th June between Barnett, Florentino and José Angel Sánchez. It was there that they laid out their strategy. However, they are fully aware at the Bernabeu that negotiations could be "long and tedious".

During that meeting, they agreed the terms of his contract, a six-year deal worth between €6 and €7m per year, as well as his shirt number, 11. They even looked at what a shirt would look like with his name and number on it this season.

They also agreed that Bale would inform Tottenham, in private, that he wanted to leave, which he has already done. "Have no doubts: Gareth has wanted to play for Madrid since he was a kid," Barnett said. He then took out a photo of Bale aged 10 wearing a Real Madrid shirt and told them that as a boy he grew up in awe of Madrid's 'Galacticos'. That pleased Florentino a great deal.

God no...I'd far rather Bale stays with Spurs than goes to Man U.
I know it's life but I hate the fact that the more you spend the more success you will have. I'd love it if Moyles fell flat on his face but lets face it, even Joke Kinnear could win the league at Old Trafford.

I hope he stays there n'all but I think he will end up at either Man U or Madrid and I would prefer him to stay in England
