It said on Sky today that the teams are selected to play in Hong Kong. Anyone know what the criteria is? The whole thing seems a big deal over there but I'm honestly baffled as to why we were invited after last seasons showing.
what I read there is no criteria in selection apart from promoting the premier league in Asia ...albeit a lot of schemes are run in conjunction with the tournament including off the pitch involving youth development search Richard Scudamore and trophy there is a lot of info out there
You have to watch Team America and not attempt to mimic the Kim Jong Il voice. As clubs Man City, Spurs and ourselves have done this least.
If they are looking to promote the Premier League in Asia they might have took note of our invest in Africa thing and try to get a few brownie points with us to do something similar with them.
they wanted a prem team that spurs could piss all over with lots of goals flying in , but in the mean time mo has gone and pdc has taken control , but hey ho
Think the reason you guys were selected will be to do with your league position on a certain date. Newcastle played the competition in 2003 and that was what it was based on then.
Margaret whatsername said in an interview that it was a prestigious comp to be invited to. I think it was the club's PR machine that got us in there by raising our profile with the Prem. Fair play to them; It's about time we got noticed
It is definitely to do with the premier league as I remember a news story about it when O'Neill was in charge saying how we'd be replaced in the Asia trophy if we were relegated
