This time last year I was as high as a kite - the drama of our last few games of the season, the quality of players coming into the club, planes with QPR livery, the overall upbeat and 'here we go, time to kick on' feel. We all know the outcome, which has more than contributed to my current feeling - totally flat, no real expectation, underwhelmed by purchases (I'm not looking for big names, would be delighted with some risky punts on youngsters), no faith in the management. Following this idiot logic, we'll win the Championship at a canter, playing Total Football a la Holland 1974. Which would be nice.
At least I turned up to it in buoyant mood. On 3rd August I reckon I'll be in a state something akin to terror, head filled with thoughts of how bad it could turn out........
Thats just it sb 73 we all worried about out come, but it can't be any worse than that last season can it?
What has gone stays gone We shall overcome I am applying savlon to my left nipple and fresh cream to the other two
Totally agree, it has taken me a while to get over last season but I've now thrown caution to the wind and I'm back in excited mode. I know a lot people have found it hard to find crumbles of encouragement but i really don't see the point of being this down, the most appropriate name on these boards is Roller's, we have been on a rapid down but the climb will be coming. Cheer up, , smile for tomorrow is another day.
The best team to never win the world cup. I remember being a wide eyed 10 year old thinking 'that's how it's done'
No problem mate, I adore that team, which directly inspired our greatest team, and here is the evidence
It could be worse. You lot need to pity me as I am surrounded by bouyant Palace fans in this part of town
Yep, you've reminded me how I felt then, Stan. Until Swansea came and kicked us in the crown jewels...five times
Christ on a bike, can you imagine a modern footballer - Messi, Rooney, Podolski or Hulse, clattering into a defender as the Dutch guy does at 55 seconds?
What happened to that well balanced man I started conversing with a couple of years ago? The one who saw football for what it was and refused to let it get him down? Dare I say met with victory and defeat and treated those two imposters just the same; remember him Stan?
