BBC are reporting us having rejected that bid as fact. Cheeks ****ers putting in that price. As others of said, it is believed any bid over 40 we have to tell suarez about, but we don't have to accept the bid. However that works...
youre better off not going to dublin luv ... the people are on drugs or think theyre american and it smells. get the swansea cork ferry if it ever gets sailing again. youll be in a little piece of heaven
I hope it went like this .... hey luis arsenal have put in a bid for you soooo .... we told them **** themselves. ah contract obligations fulfilled no piss off over to your loner tv and play wjth yourself. me and the lads are getting icecream.
Cavani went to PSG for £55 mill. Suarez is Uruguay top scorer so we should be looking for £58-60 mill ideally.
Well it seems that LFC don't put buy out clause's in their contracts. So if you want him that is how it works! Better make it 58m+1 though eh!
Luis Suarez: Liverpool reject Arsenal's £40m bid for striker By Ben Smith BBC Sport Comments (469) Liverpool have rejected Arsenal's improved offer of just over £40m for Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez. The unusual bid, understood to be £40,000,001, was designed to trigger a clause in the player's contract, but Liverpool have turned it down. Under the terms of Suarez's deal, the club are duty bound to consider any offer for him in excess of £40m and then inform the 26-year-old of it. Suarez in numbers Luis Suarez •30 goals in 44 appearances for Liverpool last season •Since joining from Ajax in January 2011 for £22.7m, has scored 51 in 96 appearances •49 goals in 48 games for Ajax the season before joining Liverpool •31 goals in 62 appearances for Uruguay But they do not have to sell and have now rejected two bids from Arsenal. While Liverpool remain determined to keep their prized asset, who scored 30 goals for the club in 44 appearances last season, their resolve is likely to be tested if the bidding continues to rise. Should Arsenal persist and have an improved bid accepted, it could come close to trebling their previous highest initial outlay on a transfer. The Gunners, whose first offer for Suarez was £30m, paid a reported £15m to Zenit St Petersburg for Andrey Arshavin, in January 2009. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers last week said he considered Suarez to be at least as valuable as Edinson Cavani, who recently joined Paris St-Germain for £55m. Real Madrid remain interested but have yet to make a formal offer. Suarez joined Liverpool's pre-season tour of Australia at the weekend and was expected to hold talks about his future with Rodgers. The Uruguay international flew to Melbourne from Montevideo on Sunday after being given extended leave by the Reds following the Confederations Cup. He wants to leave Anfield to play for a Champions League club despite only signing a new long-term deal last summer. Speculation has grown about Suarez's future since he was punished with a 10-game ban at the end of April for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic. The striker still has to serve six games of that suspension and was also banned in 2011 after being found guilty of racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra. Suarez joined Liverpool from Ajax in January 2011 in a £22.7m deal. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23428419
It seems a few of you are hating the transfer window as much as a few of us are! Are there any actual quotes or actual evidence things are happening with Suarez? We get daily "bids" for Bale and yesterday he even "agreed terms" but as far as we actually know there hasn't even been a proper bid. It's getting tedious. Could it be the same for Suarez or is it pretty much nailed on there are actual bids? The press have a lot to answer for
Brendan did confirm the first bid from Arsenal, and I imagine this one is true too. As far as release clauses goes, no idea.
If it is true the club has rejected the offer then so much for the 40m release clause existing. Now I am sure some think it's 45m.
Surely we wouldn't sell to Arsenal at any price, we'd be near enough guaranteeing they finish in top 4 ahead of us.
Not sure Luis Suarez is not going to do something stupid at Arsenal....may be banned for half of the season .However, NO to Arsenal.
I saw that this morning and I had to check to see if it wasn't a parody account!! Brilliant stuff and would indicate that the clause in the contract means nothing. I wonder what Suarez's agent thinks of that but if it turns out that LFC are in the right, then he made a significant 'boo boo' when negotiating that term in the contract!
