....Skysports.com can confirm that Sunderland have rebuffed an approach from Liverpool for midfielder Jordan Henderson.

Manchester United and Manchester City had both been keeping close tabs on the England international.

But Liverpool have suddenly made a surprise move for the talented young midfielder, who can play out wide or in the middle.

Kenny Dalglish is clearly looking to invest heavily this summer and Henderson has emerged as one of his top targets.

It is understood the Anfield outfit's initial interest would have seen them willing to pay £13million, but Sunderland have rebuffed their advances.

The Wearside outfit, though, may be willing to do business at a much bigger price - £20milllion plus - as they have their own midfield targets.

Skysports.com understands one of those is Manchester United's Darron Gibson, and Steve Bruce is ready to approach his former boss Sir Alex Ferguson over his availability and also that of defender Wes Brown.

Not sure if I would want Gibson or Brown.

Brown is another player who picks up injuries on a regular basis and is pushing on now. Gibson not so sure about

If a club wants him would hope its a straight cash deal no players chucked in and let Brucie go after some good players with the money

Brown's a quality player whose been crocked... no good.

Gibson's a decent centre mid. We have plenty of centre mids. If we're going to sign another they need to really bring something to the team.

Gibson can score goals, which is more than most of our other midfielders and he is still young.

Brown 5 years ago i would have snapped him up, now not so sure, not sure if its all been injuries with Brown or he has been frozen out a bit at OT, but then no one wanted Bramble and he was excelent for us the first half of the season, so i will trust Bruces judgement.

Brown and Gibson wouldn't improve our team.
    We have better already.
SB should only buy better than we have and not more of similar players.
The same goes for Vaughan and Bothroyd although DJ Campbell may be ok (I'm unsure of him)

I'd rather get 2 or 3 top players and use the young'uns like Noble than get 7 or 8 who really wouldn't do much for us.

This would be rather like taking a grand trade in for a banger that's about to be scrapped. I wouldn't touch either of these with a barge pole.

We'd have another Mensah on our hands if we signed Wes Brown, he's just too injury prone.
I like Gibson, but do we really need another central midfield player? I don't believe we do.
