The agreed price/contract etc. has expired though. So now they can offer anything they want, and we decide whether to accept it or not. That's why they cam in with £8m or something silly.

Surely if it's expired then they owe us the agreed price NOW yes?

Otherwise they're in breach of contract and can be sued.:police:

Well, no. I didn't really explain it properly. They had first refusal on him. All they had to do was match the price agreed and he was theirs, but the date of that agreement has expired, so now anyone can make a bid on him, even Juventus if they want. That's why they've come in low. I doubt they ever intended to pay the full price and were always waiting for the deal to expire.

It is stupid way Jonesey. But unfortunately thats just the way it is.

I suppose you could think that if Aquilani had been a star and one of the players of the season, then Juve would have paid £16m before the agreement ended. That may have cost us money, as other teams may have been willing to pay nearer £20m.

As it turns out, he wasnt, and other teams dont look like they are too keen on paying more than £15m for him.

At the end of the day, Juve know how much we want for him. If they, or any other team for that matter, don't stump up and cant agree a price, then by the sounds of it Kenny is happy for him to return.

And if Aqua wants the deal so badly then I imagine he may reduce his signing on fee and Juve can use that money saved to force through the transfer.

Reports suggest Juve have offered £8m and that was, rightly so, rejected. I think if they came in at around £13m then Liverpool would accept, despite the agreed price being £16m.

I dont think we should give in to theese clown's to be honest if they are not going to pay the price that was agreed then we should take him back now and tell them to do one. He should not be sold for a penny under teh 16m agreed, it's not as if he's a bad player the guy is a 26 year old Italian international. Get him back and tell them dirtbirds to jog on.

    Rubadub...

I see what you mean. But I dunno where he is gonna fit in? Meireles and Gerrard would likely start ahead of him, so unless KD is going to change the formation I dont see the point in keeping a £15m player just to be stubborn.

He is worth way more than £8m, so that is out of the question. But a sensible bid which is good for all parties of around £13m should be accepted, if we get it.

That money could be used on wingers and defenders, where we need strengthening, or, as the OP suggested, on a more defense minded CM

As I've said previously, I wouldn't mind Aquilani back, but it's a bit like on Fifa when you end up buying all the decent players with your (unrealistic at the time) 40 million quid budget. It's nice to have them all, but you can't put 20 names on the team sheet. It makes business sense for him to be sold. Ashley Young coming in would only cost us about 2-3 million if we got the right price for Alberto. Or 7-8 million for Mata.

I think we will get Young and Mata. And Henderson/Cattermole/Adam
Then its just really defenders to sort out and maybe a striker

    Reina/Gulacsi

    Johnson/Kelly
    Carra/Skrtel
    New CB/Agger
    New LB/Aurelio

    Lucas/Spearing
    Henderson/Cattermole/Adam/Shelvey

    Young/Kuyt
    Meireles/Gerrard
    Mata/Maxi

    Carroll/Kuyt
    Suarez/New CF

I think Aqualani will certainly go, he loves italy and never settled in UK, the money you get for him needs to go back into CM. You only really have Gerrard and Lucas as established CM, thats why I think Henderson and Cattermole would be good signings, alternitively Parker (think he will go to Spurs or Arsenal though) would be ideal.

Spot on CityCityHull. Although I don't think you can ignore as CM, I would consider him more as an AM.

Parker is a quality player, but think he would cost only a few million less than Henderson so not really a sensible buy econimically and not fitting in with FSG's criteria.

Don't think he would want to leave London wither when Spurs and maybe Arsenal will be interested in him

He did when Rafa brought him on in the 93rd minute of a game for 30 seconds, it gets a mention in Brian Reades book Epic Swindle too i think. Rafa was dissillussioned with the planks and brought on Aqualani so as theyd have to fork out.

Thats only an additional £500k,thats already been paid. He's not made more than 35 appearances. There is a hell of a lot more money that Roma are not getting. They won't get it either if he's sold.In the same way Liverpool are unlikely to get the £3 million that Spurs owe them on Robbie Keane,it was based on success,he didn't have any so Spurs don't have to pay it.Seeing as Aquilani didn't have any success with Liverpool,Roma are going to miss out on at least £7 million.
