See link on post 2. A very nice gesture, well done to the Club for making it and ensuring continued good relations with Exeter City, who are so inexorably linked with the history of Swansea City F.C.
Great gesture by the club. I think we play at Yeovil tomorrow night. Others will tell you if I'm wrong.
As some of our plastic fans will be unaware, this was a manager (Exeter)who turned down the Swans job ! wonder if he ever thinks what may have been ?? http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/tisdale-snubs-swans-job-stay-1907031 I think we dodged a bullet there to be fair, as far as I can see he hasn't done anything of note down there since.
we should have helped LLanelli or Barry or neath if we are so flush we can throw away money to an english club...
he went to jail for a short while but i have seen him a few times around swansea....Its was a while ago mind and he might be dead for all i know...
LLanelli only had to pay 25K debt so i dont think its right that we should bail out an english club while we let our neighbours lose their place as one of the better LOW clubs..
The difference is that those clubs were being mismanaged, and would you throw good money after bad? I have no problems with what the club did with them. And by the way they support Port Talbot!
Agree with above, the club have never shirked helping out the local teams, they have played local for the last few years and have put plenty of money in these clubs pockets
Lovely gesture by the board. Norway, I was wondering if anyone would have brought up that he could have been our manager. Personally I'd rather Laudrup but I think he's a decent manager trying to get his team to play football 'the Swansea way.'
llanelli were managed well and we should have stopped them going under for the sake of 25k instead of giving more than that to an english club. we have many jacks who are from llanelli who are pissed off as they support them also....If we cant look after our own then we should not look after anyone....a very poor judgement by the club and im glad im not going to pay any money towards it...
I agree with Jager here. Llanelli well over payed poor players to play in even poorer league. If the people running llaneli had been in the real world they wouldnt be where they are now. Didnt we do the same for Neath and Port Talbot when we played them in pre season friendlies in years gone by and they made the gate money..
But Dai they are not our own. They are a different club who play in a different league, yes they maybe welsh but that is as close as it gets. I dont like the idea of them not being in the LOW premier, but they have them selves to blame for paying inflated wages. There are 12 other clubs who have lived within their means.
It's not really a case of giving £25k to Exeter - just giving up our share of the gate. Would Lanelli be able to raise that number of fans for a friendly?
Dai what planet are you on today? How on earth you can say the club was run properly is beyond me. The inland revenue had them wound up because they were not paying their taxes, if they are not paying taxes it means they are not solvent. And it was decided that there was little chance of them becoming solvent. This situation happened to Cardiff as well, the difference was that they paid up their debts or made an arrangement to pay their liabilities to the crown. It's not Swansea City's responsibility to prop up failing businesses, evidenced from Casey's and Huw's failed business. I'm sorry but like that company the Swans should not involve itself in this. Llanelli deserved to go out of business as they were mismanaged.
