I would love to be there but my wife decided sept 13th would be a good day to have our first baby.. will hopefully be raising a glass or 2 from this side of the pond..
I have a work reunion that night. I worked there for 21 years before the place closed 7 years ago. Looking forward to meeting up with all (well nearly all) my old work colleagues. Planning to get to the mid week game.
Congrats - I have five daughters, but first born is always very special....but don't let this guy anywhere near him or her! please log in to view this image
Mrs TR has given the for me to come over on the 14th. Looking at the flights i'll get the same flight as Finglas coming over, but will only do a day trip, so a quick question for Finglas and any other experienced travellers through Heathrow, there is a return flight to Dublin at 19:10, is that giving me sufficient time to get from Shepherds Bush to Heathrow and through security or should i go for the flight that is an hour later? Also bear in mind that i will still have a 2 hour drive after landing at Dublin. All help greatly appreciated.... U R's
Don't shoot me if it doesn't work out but my honest answer is yes, you should make the 19.10. I have done it many times but I normally get a lift to the airport by car but I have done that journey by tube too. To date (touch wood) I have never missed that flight. In fact, I once booked the 18.10 by mistake and still made it by leaving with 20 minutes to go. If the match finishes by approx. 5pm, the tube journey is approx. 1 hour so you should be in T1 by 6pm which gives you sufficient time to catch the 19.10. Just remember Tramore, you have little room for error. Here is some advice. 1. Have a return tube ticket to hand so you don't waste time queing to buy one. 2. As soon as the clock hits 90 minutes, head for the exit and make your way sharpish to Shepherds Bush Market station. 3. Change on to the Piccadilly Line at Hammersmith. 4. Get a Heathrow T1,2,3, & 5 train. Don't get a t4, 1,2,3, train. That one takes much longer. 5. If you do get delayed for any reason, the security in T1 will let you through the fast lane if you tell them your flight is about to close. Hope that helps.
Cheers Finglas....knew it would be tight....looked at the Heathrow Express out of Paddington as an alternative in case.....Piccadilly line is pretty good out of Hammersmith, trip advisor suggests 40 - 45 minutes from Hammersmith.....it is only really the security time at Heathrow that I was concerned about. I'll book flights in next few days and let you know. Have to check with Inky if he is going over, seem to re-call him saying he was going over a some stage for the American Football at Wembley, not sure when that is but it may be a bit too much to do both trips.
The Heathrow Express is not worth the money Tramore. The last time I used it, it was £20 single. You will make the 19.10 using the tube.
I have put both pre and post match....however post match is more likely due to work commitments. I am looking forward to meeting you all and raising a toast to someone whom I never met, but had great respect for.
I'd like to come along to pre match and possibly post match drinks - unlikely for food though. Be good to meet up with people. Never had the opportunity to meet Brixton but the stories and tributes show he was a great character. Got my season ticket this year so will not need group ticket
Mate, if you get stuck I can free up a couple of places in my motor to get you straight back to LHR, Terminal 1 and will drop you right outside the Terminal. Let me know if that's any use to you.
Still trying to get my morning shift worked. Don't think it will be a problem but might be a last minute thing
I'm down for the weds game along with 4 of my weds supporting staff who ive treated to away tickets Not sure on trains as yet but will aim for c&s for pre match livener
Fantastic. I'll pm you my mobile so you can find us, although, as Beth will tell you, my looks put George Clooney in the shade, so you'd find us anyway.
