    CHAMPIONSHIP TRENDS

Doing a file clearance job on my PC I came across an old thread called TRENDS that I used to do on the much loved bbc606 site. Some of you old 606ers may remember it.

It was a bit of fun in using teams current FORM over previous 6 matches and linking it to the seasons league position. A projection (trend) was then calculated using these figures.

Teams do have periods of good or bad form (don't we know that !). Anyway, having nothing to do I stuck the current Championship figures on a simplified model of the TRENDS file.
Most of the work was already done and it will now be simple to fill in results weekly to continue the thread. I just Copy and Paste the table it produces.

The thread will be posted later.

Morning Penshaw, good to see another former 606er :)

Think Southampton will honestly be one to watch next year, whilst Borough will struggle. West Ham under big sam could be a threat if he can get them to be a typical side of his, tough to break down & physicaly strong.

I see MK Dons gaffer thinks Clayton will do a job for us this year & will handle the step up, lets hope so as he could be the missing link we need to protect our back four.

Hate pre-season, especially the early part when players are on holiday!

in my opioin i do not rate any of the league on side to do well no high than 10, fergie lite is not championship manger proved that at preston, i think west ham and birmingham will struggle with the lose of players maybe a 6th for one of them, Brighton will do well and blackpool will ever be amazing or relegated.

i think leeds will finsh 4th or 5th, start of strong and have are tradional melt down after christmas and pick up agian, thats how it seem to go now

Southampton have a real good team & I think they will spend as well. Also st marys will be one of the better grounds in the league & Adkins has got them playing football. Think they will be the dark horse to be honest! Everyone banging on about how Brighton romped the league, well they finished 3 points above southampton in the end, plus southampton brought in a new gaffer & changed the way the played. I could look like a complete mug come christmas but i do think they will cope well!

It's still an open season next year - it's not shaping up to be one of those where you have two teams out of those like Birmingham/Wolves/WBA who you know are dead certs to get automatic promotion and then end up doing it with a 10 point margin.

Birmingham - agree, their squad will be depleted and even with their rich owner, they'll find it hard to get a proper cohesive XI (see Pompey).
West Ham - already announced there will be player sales so they won't be doing a Newcastle; they'll probably be up there though, they still have a good few young players and the owners say they'll pay off all the wage debts they rack up.
Blackpool - agree again, without Charlie Adam they mean very little. Their owner's a tight bugger as well, doubt they'll see much of it reinvested well.

Brighton - hard one to judge, they don't have a lot of Championship experience, just lost their top scorer, but then again we showed last season that you don't need one. I'd say they'll come at least in the top half, maybe push for playoffs.
Southampton - better points:games ratio under Adkins than Brighton under Poyet which shows how good a manager he is. They'll be right up there in my opinion and get promoted. They have the financial clout to back it up too.
Peterborough - another toughie. Losing Mackail-Smith will be bad but they still have a good attacking side with players like Boyd and we still managed to be successful despite our leaky defence last season. Reckon they'll stay up, got more of a chance than someone like Donny I'd say.

I think we'll all be wrong, as were last year.

The results of Penshaw's TOPSIX CHALLENGE competition show none of us have REALLY got a clue!! ;)

    HI Real

Well I think apart from Middlesborough our winner last year was pretty close:

This years winner was "leeds60" from an entry of 113 606ers drawn from over 14 different clubs.

leeds60 .... Actual Pts in brackets
    MIDD..90 (62)
    NORW.. 88 (84)
    Q PR... 84 (88)
    NOTM.. 80 (75)
    READ... 76 (77)
    LEED....74 (72)

Leeds60 won with a total of 44 points with Middlesborgh costing him a dear 28pts. But still an impressive entry. Nearly all entrants last year had Boro in the top 2 or 3 ??
Previous winners have won with a total of 22 points.

So this year with all the experience of our regular "experts" we might see a winning total in the twenties!

If Leeds60 is logging on at any time ...here's hoping you are well on the road to better health.

Nice to find this site we I came acroos today so I was surprised when my name was mentioned and many thanks for your best wishes ,At the moment I am still recieving Radiotherapy but they have decided that Cemo as attacked my vital organs so they won,t let me have anymore. I think that we should wait and see the effects say in 2 months time on how the cancer as reacted to the treatment so I intend to compete again next season to retain my crown I really enjoyed it last season alond with the one run by the gentleman on the Scunthrpe board unfortunately I joined that one after 5 weeks so I never caught up are there any more competitions Dave
like that. My predictions for next season I shall wait until we see all the teams squads I think that West Ham WILL HAVE TO SELL AT LEAST£30M of staff including Parker Cole Green etc and I am noit a Big Sam follower I think our Simon is much better manager .I like Atkins and Poyet ticks all the boxes Sven could leave anytime and where will that leave Leicester I don,t like Billy DAVIES but the Reading manager will get the best out of his team OLLY has done a great job at Blackpool but does lightening strike twice without DJ and ADAMS i DOUBT IT.kIND REGARDS Dave MIKE

    Hi Leeds60

I am pleased to see you have joined up with not606. I am sure you will enjoy finding out how it all works. Its a bit strange at first but you will find there is much more to the site than the bbc606.

I have sent you a PM (PrivateMessage) which you wil find in the "notifications" section at the top of the page.

As they say "keep taking the medicine" and best wishes.
