Marseille are ready to rival Premier League clubs in the hunt for Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis. Newcastle, mindful of losing Papiss Cisse due to the Wonga row, are looking at strikers. Cardiff and Hull City are also said to be interested in Gomis, who is almost certain to leave Lyon this summer. Remi Garde does not believe the striker is his first choice and will listen to offers, which has sparked enquiries. However, clubs in England better move quickly as Marseille are now in the running. Gomis has scored 50 in 145 Ligue 1 appearances since joing Lyon from Saint-Etienne. And Marseille believe the lure of staying in France will appeal to the 27-year-old, who has already rejected an offer from Fenerbahce. http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-n...ague-teams-lyon-striker-201904?#ixzz2ZOeqVb6d
I believe there is a Cayman Island striker who plays for Tigers FC who we haven't been linked with. Yet. Jose Luis Bush.
He'd cost far more than we could afford and has already stated that he'll only go to a club that harbours European ambitions. I don't think even the most optimistic among us would see us getting continental qualification this season. He'd be a coup nonetheless. What this does mean is that if Marseille want him, they're likely to drop their interest in Briand, who has shown interest in joining us.
Gomis is ready to leave Lyon only for a top ranking club (he already turned down offers from Leverkusen, Swansea, Cardiff, Fernerbace... not to mention Rubin Kazan or Galatasaray last year). Though Gomis is a very good and regular scorer (15 to 20 goals each season in the last 5 or 6 seasons) I'm not sure he'll get any better than a PL club, even with no European tournament on the agenda. Looks like Aston Villa are interested now. Marseille don't have the money to buy Gomis unless they sell Gignac, but Gignac doesn't want to leave at all. And I'm not sure Lyon would want to sell Gomis to a competitor in French league.
Paul Gascoigne and Fabrice Muamba are both off the radar, though this could change at a moment's notice.
