    Good Morning Folks,

Beckford has completed his move to Bolton. I wonder whether we were interested in bringing him home at all, or whether it was just hot air. One thing for sure, we will need an experienced out and out goal scorer if we have any chance of getting promoted. This means someone who is guaranteed to bang in 25 goals a season at this level. If Beckford receives the support, he is the kind of person to do that.

Who do we think are going to be the big Championship spenders this pre season? How much investment is needed to make Leeds a top two team?

Jamie Ashdown is struggling with his foot injury that kept him side lined towards the end of the season, and despite surgery months ago, may not be fit for the beginning of the season. I just hope that Kenny has a better season than he did last.

The Leeds team is back in the UK, and whilst they prepare for their weekend clash at Walsall, McDermott is working double time to bring a recognised central defender to ER. Yesterday McDermott was quoted as saying :-

McDermott said: “There’s been no progress since I last spoke, nothing significant. We’re flying back tomorrow and I’ll have talks with the club again when we get home.

“I keep talking about this player I’m after and the deal’s still there but I haven’t been able to move it on.

Morning Elland. To make us top two, I reckon were maybe three short with an out an out goal scorer being one. Problem is they don't come cheap unless you're signing them from Leeds, then they're a giveaway. Only alternative for us is hope the likes of Smith can step up to the plate.
I get the feeling, the deal mcd is talking about isn't moving for financial reasons. It's like ten days since Haigh said big news would be announced very shortly but that avenue seems to have gone quiet. Maybe mcd might be able to twist the gfh arms again to borrow a few bob for the transfer. Personally rather these take a little while and prove to be worthwhile rather than the ****e we've signed for the past four or five seasons

Morning all. Pity about Beckford. Would love to have had him back, but wasn't to be. Aso to who else we need, I think a CB & a proven striker would see us fit for the season.... or at least until the next TW. Much of course will depend on us hanging on to Byram and McCormack.

On Caption comp, it's obvious. BMD is saying to Brown, I said put your big toe in, not shake it all about!!!

    Morning Elland and all.

I don't think we are gonna sign another striker and in truth I don't think we need to. Look at both Cardiff's and Hull's top scorers last season and it just proves you don't need to have a 25 goal a season man to get promoted automatically. Personally though, I think that McCormack has already shown he is capable of 20 goals in a season at Leeds and he's hit the 25 goal a season mark with Cardiff, whether he will play further back or not though remains to be seen until the season starts. I'm also backing Smith to do well with Poleon being what Somma was in his first champ season with us. Dunno why fans are so desperate for a striker, we need a CB and wingers imo.

    Morning gonads <whistle>

Bolton have now brought in 7 new players this summer, and JB will probably be nailed on for the leagues golden boot. Bolton have parachute payments. Blackburn have parachute payments, QPR and Reading have parachute payments. Blackpool still have parachute payments, fook me theres millions sloshing around in parachute payments in this league, making it unfair. Forest are investing and leicester too have and are investing. This season we could get well and truly left behind if we cannot play together as a team. We don't have any superstars so the only chance we have is to play as a team and stand together. We have a great manager who can organise, but he needs backing and its a sad decade when a club the size of ours cannot compete with small village pub teams anymore.

If we don't have a striker to knock in 25 goals, we have to hope that goals will come from all over the park. Smith from space, Ross from in and out the box, Poleon with pace, Hunt with guile, White for a change from his new diamond geezer spot ......

Totally agree with your sentiments DOC ;last season we had a real chance of promotion as the teams coming down were all skint anyway so any parachute payments were spent keeping them a float .This season different kettle of fish Qpr are in the throes of buying Hooper for 5.5m from Celtic and have recruited 2 expremiership players in Simpson and Dunne Reading didn't spend a lot so they have plenty of funds to launch an assault and Wigan have just spent £2mon Holt .Forest under 3 in a bed Davies are another to be taken seriously.Leicester even with a poor manager are always there abouts. Brighton could have a shout along with a rejuvenated Ipswich
Bolton are spending money to get back and so too are Blackburn Watford may also be in with a shout if they can resolve their loanees
So we have 9 teams in with a good chance of promotion and we have spent £1m to get promotion in my opinion we have no chance
We need wingers and a centre back as priorities along with a goalkeeper I did not like Kennys body language against Farsley the sooner he is replaced the better fo me
So get your money out you know it makes sense

A few year ago when I was playing for the county when I was 16 I got beaten by a 12 year old, all the team took the piss (even though the 12 year old had shot 5 under) my coach dropped me and I never played for them again (even though I was far better than most)

That 12 year old is now 18 and is playing in the British Open this week so my coach can **** off

Morning all! I graduate today, small chance I will meet the man himself, Sir Patrick Stewart. Going to try and get him to say "we all hate Leeds scum" by showing him my beloved Leeds United keyring.

The only problem is the ****e we've signed for the past four or five seasons have all taken time, and have been the dregs left over that nobody else wanted.

As for an out and out goal scorer, Dominic Poleon. Looks like he's going to fit the bill, the way he plays I think he'll be banging them in for fun. 20+, you heard it here first. Provided he gets the game time, of course.

The team we had 4 and 5 seasons ago was better than what we have now. So many thanks for hamstringing us you fooking robbing old bearded twat.

Wonder if Gradel, Beckford, Howson, Snoddgrass, Johnsone, Kilkenny & Delph would get a game now <grr> I think we may even have a chance of promtion with those back

The record books show that you don't need a cert 25+ striker to gain promotion from this league but it would probably help if the rest of the team don't look likely to be scoring too many. How many the team needs to score also depends on how well the side defend.

I still think priority 1 is making the most of what we have. Which means getting in a decent quality winger or 2 to help supply Smith (maybe 1 singing before the season then a loanee when the EPL sheds its surplus).

I've changed my mind on the next priority, I'm now with most in thinking a CB is pretty high on the agenda. I'd like us to sign them on a decent contract though as it's a position where you really do need stability. So much will depend on how tough a nut we are to crack.

And yeah, another striker would be good, especially if players like Hunt are already be starting to pick up injuries. However I do think this is the area of least importance as I have confidence in the strikers we have already to get enough goals to win us games if they are given the right service.

I think Poleon will predominantly be utilised on the wings to cover for our lack of width. We desperately need an established goal-scorer.

I hope we don't use Poleon out wide. Yes he's quick but I'm sick of this square pegs in round holes situation we're always in. Peltier at LB, Tonge and Green playing wide, McCormack on the wing - we even used to play Hughesy at full back and Bradley Johnson and Howson wide left and right! Playing players in their proper positions would help us no end. Poleon's definitely a striker, not a winger, so if we're not getting any wingers in I hope we use a formation that doesn't use any - like the diamond.
